#11193 Okay, I've been offered a trade. My wifes car which is a 99 EK for a 99 Prelude. Straight up trade.

My wifes car is an automatic with only 34000 miles (sweet) the Prelude has 90ish on the motor and is stick. The mileage issue is what worries me. Both cars are lowered, both have CF hoods, the Lude has a lil bit more engine mods than the wifeys car. I just dont want to inherite somebody elses' problems, so I'm a lil nervous.

The owner of the Lude needs an automatic car for his sister, thats how this all came about.

Whats everybodys opinions on this matter??? Gotta admit, it would be sweet to get an H22 to play with, but I still dont know.

#11197 they say if the car has mods, then it was probably driven hard...

What does the wifey want to do? Can she drive 5 speed? How far is her commute? Gas would be more for the Lude. I guess if her car has only 34k mi, she doesn't drive much?

But like you said.... H22 to play with

tough call... any way you can get pics for us?

#11198 Oh I'm sure its seen VTEC a few times  But at the same time neither me or the wife baby her car either.

She's pretty good with stick! Tucsons small so there's not a whole lot of miles that get racked up. It only takes her 5-10 minutes to get to work.

Its actually the owner of the shop I hang at's Prelude, so I atleast know him. If anything went wrong with the Lude, I know it'd be taken care of.

We're going to look at the car tomorrow, so I'll pop off a few pics while we're there. :thumb:

#11209 personally I would keep the EK you kno its a good running car and reliable why trade that for something your unsure of i kno it has a h22 but if its oyur daily driver your not going to be racing anyone anyways so whats the point of the bigger engine.. bigger engine.. harder on fuel I guess it all depends on what she likes best

#11213 I'd trade it for the Lude, mileage isn't all you have to look at.
At 100.000 miles the engine is at prob. one third of its mainly trouble-free life.
You know the guy, if something is wrong it'll be fixed, so why don't do it?
At least make sure its interior is at least as good as the EK, that does tell a thing or two about the previous owner ;)

#11219 Excellent points made by all! :thumb:

As the years have gone by, my wife has become less tolerant with the whole car thing. Its not because she doesnt like the Honda scene, its because she really cant participate. She'd much rather be in the staging lanes running against me, than sitting in the stands watching me.

She knows her automatic single cam isnt gonna turn a decent time without putting a few G's under the hood. She just doesnt have a good starting platform with her EK. I feel as though she'd feel a lil more involved if she had something decent to work with.

I dont really car about the whole gas issue, I get fucked at the pump now with my car, whats a few extra dollars to gas up the Lude?

I guess part of it is me too. I drive her every now and again, sometimes the automatic factor bothers me, sometimes its the fact that I get fucked with by other cars. Perfect example............About a half hour ago some needle nuts in a SRT4 was trying to get me to drop off a light with him. I'd get killed with the auto SOHC, but with my hands on a H22, I'd at least hang with him.

Oh well, we're gonna see the Lude tomorrow, and go from there. From what I understand, the interior is in next to mint condition.

#11272 Im not gonna make any more points on this question...all the obvious statements have been made...overall id say its the wifeys choice...but if you do trade...i'd call you a traitor to the civic scene... :x

P.S. Got kids? If so your gonna want something with a little extra space and something that isnt gonna jerk the kids head back every time you shift...fyi :)

Jk on the traitor thing btw...imo civic > prelude s2000 > all :D

#11323 Okay, here's the latest....

Went to go check out the car yesterday. I have to say we weren't all that impressed.

The interior is totally mint.....showroom fresh! The exterior isnt the greatest. The C/F hood is just hidious, its vented and scooped and just looks terrible. The back bumper is scratched and cracked a lil bit.

A few other things we really didnt like is the SRS light is on, there's a loud screech form the front drivers side when you hit the brakes (car pulls to the oppisite side :? ) and there's 104,000 miles on the heart. I wasnt impressed when I was wrapping out the gears.

Its highly doubtfull we're going to trade off my wifes car with only 34,000 miles on it for the Prelude.

Since I only drive her car every now and again we'll find something that suits her better.
