#114586 Well havent seen one done before and ive seen alot of questions about it so since i was already planning on taking my dash out i did one up for you.....

Tools needed (you are not limited to these tools its just what i used)
-sockets-
8mm
10mm
12mm
14mm(mainly to remove the seat)

phillips and flathead screwdrivers

a few long and short extensions

3/8" ratchet

1/4" ratchet( if you want to use this with your 8mm socket)

Needle nose plyers

First off let me just say my car may be different than yours plus i already had things taken off so i didnt have pictures of what i am talking about but its pretty self explanatory. And this DIY leaves off where the Cluster harness removal ended but ive kept all that info here so you dont have to jump from page to page....

First off remove the neg battery cable or both pos and neg....

(removal of the seats is optional but recomended....)

Start with taking off the kick panel 3 phillips head screws, and the metal brace with 2 10mm bolts

Second take apart the the cluster trim bezel, and take out the cluster....radio etc....(the dimmer switch, mirror control unit, etc.....)
Image

The reach behind the plastic area behind where the clutch sat and find a black wire which is a ground for the harness and pop it off....

Now comes the fun part start bringing up the p.side part of the harness being careful or not with the orange clips that hold the wires to the plastic....
Image

Now that that part is done go to the fuse box you should easily see three plugs you need to unhook from the harness....
Image
After doing this be carful once again paying close attention to the orange clips and bring it up through to the cluster area now this may take some time since there is a couple of areas where it may need to be helped along the way but just take your time
Image

Next remove the 3 phillips head screws on the column cover and remove the cover

Then you dont have to do this yet but i did just to get an idea of what i was after...remove the center vent, as well as the 2 side covers to reveal the bolts in the end you will be removing.....

Next Take out the lower part of the center console though if you removed the whole thing it would be much easier....

Now I already had my steering wheel off because i was changing it around so you can probaly keep yours on but make sure no wires are being stretch since this could lead to damage....

Remove the 2 12mm bolts and nuts bolts first and then the nuts slowly letting down the steering column...

Next remove the glove box....either with a phillips head or a trusty 8mm and set aside
Image

Now the climate control is a tough one since you definately dont want to break it so removal of this is optional i did not until the dash was partway out since the plug for it was wedged some....But to do thise start by removing the heater control arm, and then the screws 1 in back and 2 on either side.....now the trick i found to reaching those screws is get a long phillips head or use your ratches with a coupel extensions and a phillips head bit at the end and there are two slots on either side. Now guide your tool up to the screw it should line up pretty much perfect and remove.....While we are on the climate control setup might as well unplug the 2 plugs right below one large one small....no need to unplug the back of the climate control unless you are taking it out now....
Image

(If equiped with a p.side airbag)
Start by removing a plastic cover 2 plastic screws. this will reveil 2 10mm nuts remove them and then remove the other 2 holding on the brackets.....And unhook from harness
Image

Next make sure everythign is unplugged and I mean everything.

Now start from the middle bottom and work your way up to the middle top 10mm bolts holding on the dash. (dont forget the one on the glovebox rail and right above the hood popper.

Then ever so slowly just in case you missed something lift up and out (this can be done with one person i did it by myself but two peopel would make it a little easier and safer i think....

Anyhow thats pretty much it in a sorta large nutshell Enjoy!

Time taken id say about 2-3hours at most and thats with me taking breaks and labeling baggies with screws and stuff.....

#118360 :woot: can you put a dash without a passenger bag into a civic that did have a dash with passenger airbag in it? I would like to give my EJ2 a cleaner look with a dash that doesn't have it. :thumb:

#131333 There are brackets on the bar that goes from the center to where the airbag is kinda like a brace bar but yea if you remove the bolts secureing that you should be able to pop it off
