#116041 I'm finding different information all over so I'd like to get this figured out with help from civic-eg.com :thumb:

The first difference is 96-00 D series oil pans have the dip stick on the front corner by timing belt vs in the middle of the front as the 92-95D series do.

Also the 96-00 D16y5 and D16y8 oil pans are aluminum instead of steel.

92-95 Oil pans all use the same bolt pattern (unsure if the aluminum 96-00 will fit or if modification is possible to make them fit.)

Here's where I am unsure... I know the pickups are different between the D16z6 and the D15b8. I put a different oil pan on my D16z6 and it was too shallow to go all the way on because the 16z6 pickup hung too low. I had to dent the oil pan about 3/8" to get it to clear the pickup. I don't know what pan this was, just said 92-95 D series, but it came from an engine where the pickup did not hang as low as the D16z6. Although I got this pan to fit by denting out the area where the pickup sits, I am thinking that this pan holds less oil than the z6 pan which ha me thinking twice about using it.

I'm not sure where the D15b7 and D15z1 and JDM D15b Vtec stand when it comes to oil pans.

With everyone's experience here, I'd like to put together a reference thread. Eventually with pics for comparison.

#116055 96-00 alum pans will fit on a 92-95 with the 96-00 oil pump. The oil pump is what is different as far as the bolts go.

#116727 my oil pan on my y7(96-00) got messed up when hte mount broke off the block so i figuerd id put the z6(92-95) oil pan on the y7 block the only differnce between the two was that the holes didnt line up exactly i had to make one hole bigger and a lil longer but also had to remove a pin from the block for it to go on right so far its on and no oil leaks ima look too see if i took pics of when i drilled the hole, oil pumps look almost the same also so that leads me to belive that the oil pans are the same in depth

#116889 oil pans are matched with oil pumps. 92-95 pans can be used on y7 and y8 blocks if you use the 92-95 z6 pump. 96-00 pans can you used on 92-95 motors if you use the 96-00 pumps. I ran into this problem when I got my old y8 for the last car. I had to mod the stock z6 pan to fit, later got a y8 pan to replace. but with a z6 pan on a y8, you need a z6 pump.
