#122186 I'd get on google and search "how to paint a car" there's a lot of prep work involved before you do any painting if you want it to turn out well and last. But yes our cars use a base coat & clear coat.
Be sure to prime bare metal.

ok just by you sayen that means dont even try. ill tell you the paint is only half of the job. there is tones of prep. i am actually painting my car this weekend finally. i plan on making a walkthrew. if you have never painted a car or atleast help in the steps then dont do it. i have seen ppl paint there cars and lack hardner on there clear mix was wrong and the paint never dries. plus if the surface is not cleaned right the paint may fisheye, run, or wont stick. and yes you have to lay your color down first(milano red) then you lay your clear coat. or if you want a faster paintjob that is ok then get single stage paint. its like the paint and clear together but it will never be as shiny as a 2 stage. my car will be 3 stage pearl :thumb: , 1st white base,2nd white base with pearl, 3rd then finish it off with clear with pearl. :P ill make sure to get some pics of the prep work and how to do it. then you can get a old hood or bumper and fallow the steps and see for your self what it takes. :thumb:

#122437 lol. ya shop is you best bet man. just dont want to see you do it and end up have to re do it. i know all the steps involved in the prep, as for the paint im still not ready, thats y i have a buddy who is a painter help me out :thumb:. macco and any other shop like that can paint a car in a day but i have seen there prep. taking a sander and doing a quick sanding, not even removing mirrors, handels, lights etc... they tape and rape. lol dont go somewere that will tell you how long your paint will last. a good paint job should last about 10-15 years befor it will start to corode. also the prep should be between 4-6 hours. but may take longer. so anything under that well its not going to last :thumb:

Dont know if there are macco's in canada haha Just price check some local places.. tell them your doing the prep work and you want them to just spray it.
Make sure you tape or remove all your parts (head/tail lights, lips/sideskirts if you dont want them painted, mirrors..etc) makes it easier for them and cheaper/better for you.
