#122389 I don't have one yet. but getting close to pulling the trigger.
I'm between the 3G, 8 gig for $99 and the 3Gs, 8 gig for $199.
However AT&T's expensive plans almost break the deal for me...

Is there anyone out there with a unlocked/jailbroken iphone using a different provider? I'm not too sure how all of that works out and would like to hear from someone who has done it.

Well if you get a iphone I would spend the extra money on the 3Gs, it is a 16gig (not 8gig) that alone is worth the price difference PLUS its faster an what not, fixing to get my 3gs this friday :woot:

#122976 i know someone with a 1st gen i phone on tmobile. But I asked him and he said you cant get the 3g unlocked for any othe company. They dont have the ability. and the 1g phones are just slow. If you update it with the new software, you have to get it unlocked again.

#122983 I've been hearing rumors that it might be coming to Verizon soon. Verizon owns Alltel now so I say wait it out. I know you hate upgrading phones.

#123118 Yeah i heard within about a year its gonna be at Verizon. I also heard that the new 3g S is faster than the towers AT&T has which is pretty lame haha. So it would almost be pointless to get that Iphone just yet... Could be wrong.

#123131 there was a rumor a while back that verizon was gong to pick up the Iphone that got everyone happy and then got crushed when it wasn't true. Is this a new rumor or the old one?

I know someone that unlocked their 3g and is using tmobile, but they were at my house (in the country) and they got no reception at all. Unfortunate, because that seems like the best route to go for avoiding at&t

#123384 i'm pretty bias when it comes to this, i want to say don't do it, but to each their own, after all i do work for apple after all, and specialize in the iPhone

#123394 Those who use AT&T... what is your plan and how much do you pay/mo?
AT&T is the only option because of where I live. Looks like I'm going to do 2 yrs w/ ATT and hopefully by summer 2011 Verizon will have replaced them.

#123575 I signed up with ATT when they first had 3g iPhones, then after a 32 day period i cancelled my contract and just paid the 150 dollar fee. the cheapest plan was 60 bucks. so after everything i bought my brand new iphone for about $540 vs $700 that they went for on ebay.

Word of advise: ATT has the most expensive plans - especially for iPhone, cause when u sign up you have to enroll in the iPhone plan.
