#123588 ive got a fully dressed b18 head, but im buying an aftermarket ported b16 head.
Im going to run aftermarket valves, springs, retainers and keepers so im good there, but im wondering if the lifters are the same and if the valve covers are inter-changeable?

#123603 as far as i know witch is not alot....your all good when it comes to the vavle's but no i dont think your b18 v\c will fit do to the b18 being non vtec and the b16 is. i do believe that the reason is do to the vtec oil rails on the b16 head but dont quote me on that1

#123649 All Modern B Series VTEC Valve Covers(B16, B17, B18c) are the same, and are cross compatible. The Modern Non-Vtec Valve Covers(b18a, b18b obd1, b18b obd2, b20b, b20z) are all compatible. I am almost 100% Sure the OBD2 Non-Vtec(smooth) valve Covers fit on the OBD1(notchy)Non-Vtec Engines. I have been told its so, But never personally tryed it.

A VTEC Valve Cover wont swap onto a Non-Vtec Head, and Vise Versa.

Bastard B's(B20A,B21A) are not compatible with any of the Modern B Series Engines, Just as the Pre 88 D Series is not compilable with the Post 88.

I am not 100% Sure on the lifters in the B Series VTEC, the B16 and B18c5 head are pretty much the same so lifters, etc will work. The B18c1 Head is a little different, I am not sure if they lifters will swap into it, I would imagine so, But I am not 100%

Hope that answers your Questions.

#123655 The lifters should work just fine. but why bother, the B16a should come with them.

#123696 ok,
getting a little off track...
Im talking non-vtech b16 and non-vtech b18.

the reasion im wondering is because i have a full b18a head. For my build i want this aftermarket b16 head.
http://www.theoldone.com/components/cyl ... 0Specs.htm
they come bare (casting with valve seat inserts, valve guides, cam caps, spray bars, and their attachment hardware)
because i decided to run new aftermarket valves, springs, retainers, and keepers. it seems like a waste of money to buy a full stock b16 head just for a few items that i may already have on a shelf.

this link is for a vtec head... should just get a OEM vtec head and build it. because...

* We currently have the heads in stock with either the B16 chambers or the smaller GSR-style chambers.
* We also have the ITR camshafts in stock.
* The heads are bare head assemblies, consisting of the machined head casting with valve seat inserts, valve guides, cam caps, spray bars, and their attachment hardware.
* The production rocker arms arrived about a month ago, and they didn’t meet my quality standards, so they’re working on that.
* The production LMA’s are experiencing spring failure which wasn’t evidenced in pre-production units, so I have recalled all that have been sold, and the factory is presently working on correcting the problem.
* We approved the valves, valve springs, spring seats, retainers, and keepers for production 6-weeks ago, however, we do not received any of them for sale yet.
* Price on the bare heads, out of the box is $550.00. These heads do require clean-up and a valve job prior to assembly.

maybe you dont plan on doin this till they get the "kinks" out waaay down the road....

#123802 crap, i didnt know that about b16 heads... i thought they were non-vtech versions (ex b18a and b18b are non and b18c is). i was avoiding vtech because it throws in a whole lot of un-needed complacation...
guess i better re-think it...

the thing about this is, im only planning on ordering the bare head so the issues that are mentioned dont apply.
