#131472 Based on the shape and what I know about mufflers I think it would just help by changing one of the frequencies; making it sound a little different but thats just my guess.

#131473 i used to have one on my car
the second one is what i had
it worked, you can still hear it but it cut my exhaust down about half as loud.

#131474 sounds like it could be the answer to my prayers.

it didnt make your exhaust note really high and raspy though did it?
like the sound of an ebay fart can?

#131542 From my experience a silencer cut my noise by about 1/2 just an approximation though

And no, a silencer won't make it raspy, but make sure it is secured with the correct bolts/washers/nuts etc otherwise it'll rattle like a bitch :)

#131543 The thing with silencers is that yes they do work but some will make the exhaust sound ratty and kinda ugly in a way..but some just make the exhaust quieter without making it sound like its coughing..ALso to add about the downsides of it, it restricts air flow..

#131545 hmmm. depending on the size piping you have. it may siound ugly like one of those annoying cheap ass autozone turbo 2 mufflers. urrgghh so annoying.

i had an n1 set up on mines, damn thing was loud. from header back no cat. In MASS, now they dont do emissions on 95 and below so no cat for us out here..

so comes out that i kept on getting warnings for the muffler cuz it looked huge too. so wut i did was buy an OBX HR425 Muffler from ebay. $60 shipped . 2.5 inlet. thing thing killed the sound of my exhaust alot. and to top it off it comes with a silencer just in case you feel it's still too loud for you. Looks and sounds good too.. at idle too.

#131685 i would rather have a new exaust put on befor i put one of those things on my car agin. i had one for a while and it a good quick silencer for getting tickets signed off. but putting one on and useing it daily, . it will sound like shit.... any time i see a car with one on i just laff cause it sounds so horrid.... but just my 2 cents :thumb:

#131689 i put one in my car. 3" exhaust right after the 4-2 gets real loud. all it did was make it quieter. it didn't make it sound all raspy like some have mentioned. if it did, i would have thrown it out. i have one similar to the second pic.

#131864 mine sits way back in, and with all the exhaust dirt on it, it blends right in.

#133467 I had one in, but it came off because I used metal putty to put it in and it gave in after 7-8 months of using it. It was the best $10 I probably spent on the car. It made the noise go WAY down, I could actually enjoy the CD player, and I could tell that I had more power in the car too. I already have one ordered to replace the one that I had and lost, and this baby is going to just be welded in place.

Sure, I prefer to just have a stock exhaust, but the car came with an exhaust with a huge tip when I got it, and $10 is all it takes to deal with most of that.
