#13551 so the guy im supposed to be getting the b18b from still hasnt got his head back from the machine shop(been about 2 months now) for his other motor he wants to swap in and i wanted to get started on my swap before i go back to school so ill still have a car to get to school and work and shit.

in the mean time ive been looking around at different motors and wondering about different set ups to run on them. im having a tough time deciding to go with an h22 with spray or go with a b series and go boost. ive mainly looked on hmo for the different motors. for b series ive looked at b16a(sir2), b16a 92-93 xsi integra, b18b, and the b18c1.

i know the h22 is good for torque and seems to respond well with spray but doesnt really like boost that well unless built. and ive heard is also a bit more work then a b series... but on the other hand the b series is safer to run boost on stock internals and seems basically made for the car.

what im wondering is with what engine would make the most power while still remaining some what cheap.

taking into consideration that i have everything to run a turbo setup or nitrous the only budget would be the complete swap which is anywhere from $2000-$3000 depending on how much money i have set aside for the swap i wana do...

any opinions would be great, thanks

#13576 it's all about preference... You'll have the torque with the H22A, but I would pick turbo over Nitrous any day of the week. It depends on what you will use the car for too. For daily driving/ occasional race, or track, etc... H22A will weigh the front down a little bit, but after you add a turbo kit to a B series it will probably be about even. How much HP are you looking to get with either setup?

#13578 I would go with the H22 on spray.......

Your not going to be on the bottle all the time, so the engine wont see the non stop abuse of boost. The H22 can hold its own, you might not have to use the spray all the time. Just make sure your tuned for spray, dont just slap a kit on and start squeezing away.

250+whp

all in all, how much more work would it be swapping in an h22 vs b series? ive read up a little bit on hondatech and it seems the h take some more work to get in but i was wondering based off personal experiences

#13653 the h's do take a little bit more but in the end its worth it theres nothin like low end torque if you need info let me know i love the h22 and its what i will always run

#13654 it's a big motor but buy the hasport mounts, get some axles, and get some nice bolt ons and you'll be allset. i had pretty much just bolt ons no spray and i beat tons of cars and drove it everyday even through the winter without snow tires. it was very dependable, but do a compression test i wish i did. mine had funky compression and got worse now i am rebuilding it. if you get it test the compression and go from there you wont regret an H

#13750 on another note i found this locally that im highly considering..

complete k20a2 (rsx-s) shortblock. it is 100% stock, and has a little over 5500 miles on it. it comes with complete rotating assembly, oil pump, oil pan, timing chain, chain guides, timing cover, and water pump.

$1200

all it really needs to be a complete motor is the head

I cant stand the K, just my opinion though. My heart is always with the B, but if torque is what you're going for.....H.

i kinda agree with him a B is the simplist relatively cheap swap and its dependable but if you want a littl emore go H. a K swap is just to god damn much
