I'm heading to the local junk yard tomorrow to pull a motor/trans and hopefully some suspension parts as well. My current suspension is completely shot. I would like to pick up some struts at the very least off a junked car

but - i dont know what im looking for. What should i be looking for as far as parts? this yard has a MASSIVE honda/acura section alone. tons of tuned cars with parts on them.

Basically - i need to know what specific tools to take, as well as what would be ideal to look for.

sway bars... i drive an ej1. I believe they already have front sways? are teggies the best to pull 19mm sways off of?

- Thu Sep 17, 2009 10:06 pm #144631 '94-'01 Integras use 22mm front swaybar and 13mm rear sway bar on the LS. 24mm front and 14mm rear on the GSR, and 24mm front and 22mm rear sway bar on the ITR.

For a 19mm rear swaybar, you'd have to go to the aftermarket. Suspension Techniques is a bad ass sway bar. The whole rear bar kit for the DC is like $250 on Summit. Correction, $240 and change.

IF you can find an ITR, you will want to snag that rear sway bar and you will want to sell it to me...or you can snag it and get yourself a rear subframe brace from ASR and rock the awesomeness that is a 22mm rear sway bar and enjoy the oversteer that is to come with it.

As far as front suspension (struts and springs), you can use the DC Integra fronts as a direct replacement. For the rears, you would have to drop the whole rear unit all together. Rear unit consisting of the rear trailing arm, compensator arm, lower control arm, and brake components. It's heavy, and time consuming to get the unit off of the vehicle, but it's a great upgrade for your Civic.

Tools:

10, 12, 14, 17, 19mm sockets of 3/8 and 1/2 drive.
Extensions of both drives.
Ratchets of both drives.
Combination wrenches of all five sizes mentioned above.
Hammer.
Prybar.
Mallet (might not need this, but I always take a hammer and a mallet).
PB Blaster (I never go to the junk yard without it).
Flat and Phillip's head screwdrivers, stubby, long, short, various tip sizes.
