#148708 Well I'm hoping that I have my car painted by Monday/Tuesday since it's supposed to rain most of this weekend here, and that will give me 3-4 days to do some interior work before I have to go on a long road trip.

Now, I made a thread earlier about how I'm wanting to get my extra set of 6x9 speakers in the back of the car for a little extra power to the expensive CD player I got to replace the one that was stolen. I was thinking about just screwing it into the plastic, which would be quick and very easy, but I didn't really like the way it looked.

So I was thinking about making a small hill for the 6x9 speaker to be attached to on the panels, which will require a little fiberglass work(and wood cutting). My only problem is, how would I get the fiberglass to stick to the plastic?

#148758 For a good bond to plastic youll actually want to drill holes thru the plastic. This allows the resin to flow thru the holes and make a complete bond. Search fiberglassforums.com and youll get the same answer.

I don't plan on doing this anymore, since I think I have a better idea for the enclosure.

But just in case, how big do the holes need to be? And I'll be putting some fiberglass on the back of the plastic as well?

I bought some plastic epoxy today, that says it bonds plastic, ABS, fiberglass, and a few other things.

1/8" holes should do fine but you kinda gotta make swiss cheese out of the area that your actually gonna glass. You can use a thing called glass bubbles which are tiny glass sphere to aid in bonding to the plastic because resin by itself is very brittle without fiberglass to support it. You would only wanna use the resin/catalyst/bubble misture on your first resin coat before you lay your glass tho. After that you can use your regular resincatalyst mix for additonal layers. You could add fiberglass on the back for extra support and to bond it all together.
