#153161 i bought a set of d2's second hand off a guy who had them in his EK and he gave me a set of EG adapters for the rear ones because they were fork types. The only thing is i cant get the EK ones off so im driving with d2's up front and my old coilovers at the back.

Anyone have any experience changing the bottom of these? thanks in advance

#153259 They just screw off... My EG is a fork type just like the ek, but its a wider fork.

I dont see how you cant spin them off.

#153306 mines a jap import though so its the eye type i need. Its really wedged on there unfortunately, i've heard of them getting pretty stuck so i might just take them to a garage and see if they can unscrew it

#153325 you could use some PB blaster to loosen it.

#153378 Put it in a vice, get a large plain screwdriver and a hammer then batter the locking ring till its free, then get a large pole or something and put it between the fork and lever it out

i was kind of thinking that route alright, ive got the d2 key for loosening the locking ring, would the fork be able to take that kind of pressure from the sides? i know its strong enough as it takes a lot of weight but thats coming from the top

#153514 better then just hammering away at it, heat it up with a torch, just heat it evenly for a min or two, alows the metal to expand a bit and breaks the rust loose.

Sorry i thought you meant the locking ring was siezed too. Yeah the fork will be strong enough, did you not say you're changing it anyway though...?

I wouldnt recommend heating a shock - they have warnings about not heating them for a reason :P

heating the fork for only a min just to break it free shouldnt hurt any thing.

i meant like if i couldnt get them to budge i could sell the whole set and buy some that were already on an eg. Gonna try putting it in a vice during the week :thumb:
