#159709 Okay so here's my story I bought this civic for $2,100 there was minimum surface rust and the paint was chipping on it. The car is due for a paint job, the car is all bondoed up and smooth ready for a paint job. What colors would look nice? I was thinking a very dark gray somewhat like a gun metal gray. The engine is a D16Z6 it has headers, exhaust, short ram intake, short shifter, stage 3 clutch. Now it is stored for the winter. What should I sink my money into for this EG? So far I want a paint job, red 15 inch rotas, and possibly a cheaper turbo. I know cheap turbos can be bad but it would be very low boost but all stock internals. Throw out some suggestions for this summer and the future, just a reminder I'm a college student so I don't have the money for new transmissions or anything like that. I forgot to say it does have coilovers not sure what brand but they are blue with red springs I believe and it also has rear megan racing control arms.

#159710 hey there,

so for one on the paint, i have seen some very good looking white sedans, is it a coupe, hatch, sedan? i myself have a purple coupe right now and am going to repaint it to a black or silver (grey metallic) color. i like the metallic grey colors of the '03 dodge ram pickups :thumb:

as for the power side of things, i have a turbo and i love it, it's a lot of fun, but i rebuilt my entire engine and have a t3 sized turbo...for you i would suggest looking into a small t25 turbo that can be found in junkyards all over the place and spend a lot of time researching in order to piece a kit together yourself....

like you, i am a college student as well and i know the lack of funds! good luck in your search! just ask a lot of questions 8)

#159713 coming from a college student as well.

1) paint: use your stock chassis paint code and go with that. can never go wrong with OEM paint color. Besides - no one likes mismatched doorjams and exterior paint.

2) d16z6 - good engine to start. Check teal_dx DIY section on going turbo. good info there. For turbo id recommend the evo 8/9 16g turbo. no its not expensive as it sounds and its smaller than the t3/t4 - however its a twinscroll and ull be able to build boost at the low rpms. putting together a turbo kit is time consuming, but could be better and cheaper than the infamous turbo kits on ebay.

i would do engine first and exterior later (i did it otherwise and regret it somewhat) plus you said its stored over time so might as well work on the engine and before you roll it out in the spring give it a paint job, thus having a fresh looking car! :woot:

either way, its your car so do whatever you think is right! Good luck!

#159719 hey there ure actually on the right track already i would go with suspension and wheels first so u kno how low u want it and see if its rubbing if so u can also have the paint shop while getting ready for paint to roll the fenders and qtr panel in the process, for the d16z6 its a great sohc motor cant go wrong (im a sohc guy) full of potential in those motors check out teals thread about the turbo building and do A LOT of research into turbos cuz u can go cheap on some of the stuff but dont go cheap on the tune

#159720 Sorry forgot to say it is a 95 hatch, but the factory color is that green teal color to me is not the best looking and I'm looking to sell my body kit on it now or do a straight trade up for my body kit for stock bumpers and sideskirts, the body kit is called a bomber body kit. :)

#159984 The original color was teal so inside the hatch and doors it is teal but I forgot to say the people had only the outside painted an electric blue but the paint started to crack, so my idea was to repaint it blue. I took a paint sprayer for painting houses and put blue paint into it. I did a primer on the car first after the car was all sanded, then the blue. Then i wetsanded and did a clear coat. Now I want a professional job and word of advice never do your own paint job, usually looks horrible and takes alot of work.
