my fault about number 1........ i always look at eg hatch fourms cause i had one. the core support is pretty bent you cant really tell from pictures, but it took the things holding the ac and the fan thing apart.

egsedanguy wrote:i wouldnt even try to go threw insurance. why would you want it to get a salvage title? thats just retarted. I work for a body shop so i know how this stuff works. this is how a insurance comp. find the value of your car. kelly blue book it in the condition it was in befor the injury. then take 70% of that and that is all you ins. comp. will pay. so the value of your car to insurance will only be like mabey 1300bucks. just get a estimate. your latch is not fucked, norr is your radiator or condensor. the cors supprots can be played with and lined up. its just a lil bit of damage to the upper tie bar. not the full core suppor. my buddys subi was hit similar but at a higher speed. bent it back into place with a hammer and doli. buy a used hood and bumper. dont buy new when used will due. my boy in the subi clamied it under his insurance and recived 2800 buck. he got a used front cover, used fender, new black housing headlights, wheel spacers, used rear cover, fixed his trunk and got it repainted the factory blue. we did the body work and all the straiting. you cant even tell it was wrecked. and he got tones more. so if you you do it right you could have your car fixed and still have cash left ova. but thats just what i would do. like they say"When someone gives you lemons, make lemonade" :thumb:

that is a pretty smart ideal. yeah i heard the core support needs to be welded or something. its so hard to find del sol parts thats the only problem.

#166060 so everyone i got a estimate and it came out to be 3200. i will show the guy tmr at school. we shall see what he thinks about that.

#166062 you say the car is not registered? but do you have it insured???

if so, what is your insurance company?

regardless of insurance, just go to a reputable body shop and get an estimate, most good body shops use a program called CCC Pathways, they put all the info of the car in and it does most of the work for the shop and they will print you out a copy of your estimate then you can hand it to the guy that wants to pay you cash

if its new oem parts or new aftermarket the prices are usually in the the program, if its used parts they'll have to call around for availability and pricing

certain insurance companys prefer one over the other, or State Farm depending on the vehicle and mileage they only use oem parts

is there any specific questions you have? i should be able to answer them

yes i have insurance. its statefarm as well tehehe. hahah. yeah but idk i just went to honda and they said it would cost me 3100-3200 to fix it. so im just going to say thats that. but if he says hes going to pay it i think that honda is a good place cause its quality work. :) i dont want someone thats just going to skimp the job and put replica bumpers. lets just hope he owns up to his words and pays. i wouldnt even mind if he made payments.

considering the price, i'll bet he decides to go through insurance

he probably gave it a quick look and thought it would be a few hundered

one other thing to think about, if he decides to go through insurance, and its his fault, his insurance pays

depending on what company, they have their own adjusters that will estimate the car themselves, if that is the case make sure the adjuster looks at it, at the shop that you want the repairs done at, that way they go back and forth and get a happy medium on hours/time/cost/parts etc...

most times if they come to you and your not at a shop when they look at it you get screwed over and later when it needs a supplement(more parts or work that they didnt pay for) the car has to sit there and wait for the adjuster to come back and look at it again and decide how much time they will pay for, for repair or replace, depending on what it is

Sorry, i dont use punctuation as much as i should, hopefully you can understand most of that

i heard that if i went to insurance it will make my car a salvaged title? is that right? so i dont have to call my insurance if he decides to go through insurance? i have the right to pick what place i want to go to as well is that right? and i understand what your trying to get at.

its cool your opinion is still welcomed on my thread :D
By VhondaW
#166072 yes, you can take your car wherever you want, they will have a list of their own repair shops and recommend those shops but you have the right to take to any reputable shop that you want the work done at

and will the car be totalled? thats between you and the insurance adjuster

most times if its close to being totalled and you want it totalled they will work with you and total it out

and it works the other way also, if its totalled but its not over by too much you can talk to the adjuster and most times they wont total it if you really want to keep the car

i have fixed quite a few cars that were totalled but the owners called and talked to the adjuster and got them to fix it...some of them really shouldn't have been but they loved their car
