- Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:44 am #170670 I'm looking at buying a 1994 si hatch with a y8 head swap. The guys says it smokes white from the exhaust and smells of water and fuel, but he says that it runs awesome. The guy says that he thinks he installed the intake manifold gasket upside down. I know that some other causes of white smoke are the head gasket, cracked or warped head, or a cracked block. What do you guys think?

- Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:52 am #170671 That's not a symptom of a blown or messed up intake manny gasket. Usually you'll get a vac leak and a hissing noise, but not white spoke...maybe PCV valve or compression is gone

p.s. I was thinking head gasket too, but when he said it smells like fuel it kinda threw me.

just buy a head gasket kit and do a mini rebuild
