#1557 I'm looking for some thoughts on selling my condo/townhouse and buying a house. Since I have moved here in fall 2003, the monthly association fee has gone up $110 :x .
My neighbors on each side of me are cool. One guy is in his 50's and I rarely see/hear from him. But he's cool to BS with. The unit on the other side is rented out by the owner. I had some shitty neighbors for about a year, but the rest of the time that place has been empty or lived in by cool people.
3 units down though there is an old bitch with a ton of cats who complains about everything she can. I was having a BBQ last summer on Memorial day weekend and she called the fire dept because the grill smoke was burning her throat & eyes. So the fire dept shows up is the full Semi sized fire truck and made me put out the charcoal with water since it was a nuisance call. The thing that pissed me off was that SHE SMOKES! :x

When I bought this place the president of the assocation was a cool old guy who was real laid back. Now it is run by an old bitch, bitchier than the cat lady. This is when the monthly fees started going up. (now they are $300/mo)

The fees include outside building maintainence, trash/snow removal, landscaping, water, and heat. Yeah the free heat is nice. There's about 20 units in the association and some people must be abusing the free water/heat and maybe that's why the cost keeps rising, or maybe the association doesn't know how to manage money. I don't know :?
But on the other hand it's nice to get home from work and not have to mow the grass or shovel snow. :hehe: The only bill I get to pay is mortgage and electric co. (and cable/internet of course)

So I'm considering a house, no more of this condo BS. Or do I really not have it that bad now? Condo/townhouse owners, what is your experience like? Home owners, What's the good/bad for you?

I can't wait till spring so I can fire up my grill and piss that cat lady off

#164572 Moved out when I was 19. Own my house. It has its perks but also its annoyances.... sometimes I wish i lived in an apt or rent the house so I could move away from jackass neighbors.... but at the same time my air horn seems to be working wonders on keeping them up at night, bitches.

#164609 haha i live with the g/f parents. its actually nice at time but sucks at others. im 23 but only 100bucks a month for rent with, lunch packed every day befor work, dinner when off work, cabel, xbox live, a drive way to park and work on my car, upstairs is becoming the man cave now, garage full of tools, some nabors that are my age that been on the same block for like 20 years. so partyen and stuff is never been a problem. only down fall is that they walk in our room as they please, her mom bitches bout us leaving stuff around when she has a room full of just shit and you cant even walk in 6inches, her dad dont work now cause he lost his job a few years back for punching a co-worker. and hasent even looked for a job. so he just stays home eatin all the food, drinking all the soda and bitches when he dont get his way. he is a waste of air and space. plus i think he is rotting on the inside cause he is like a fart machine. and trust me you dont even want to be around him when he lets one off. i am serious when i say i gag every time and have almost thrown up from it. if i had my choice i would have a house. i want somthing i can make into my own.

#164618 I'll be honest. I haven't lived with my parents since I left for college in 2003. Bought a house right out of college and its awesome.
I'm 25 now, owned my house for 2.5 years and will not complain.
I can walk around my house naked anytime I want. Change anything in the house I want ( within City regulations ) and most shit is a tax write off now a days. Hell this year I'm writing off $4000 worth of windows and door because the "green" and more efficient.
There are so many beneifts to ownign a home. But in the same sense it sucks. Replacing shit gets expensive after a while.
All in all I would never look back. I throw huge parties and my neighbors could care less. I have a loud ass system in my garage and blair it all the time. Have fires within the city of Royal Oak and no one cares. Its awesome.
