2001 civic motor

- Sun Feb 07, 2010 8:05 am #173881 hello i am getting a 2001 civic 4 door auto trans in a month. i am taking the motor in case my stock D15 blows up or dies from the km it has. the 01 civic has a D17 with only 130,000km. will that motor bolt up to my trany? how much work would it be to but that motor in my 95 hatch?

- Sun Feb 07, 2010 4:18 pm #173899 You can use the D17 internals to make a stroked D16, but i don't know of anyone trying D17 internals in a D15 yet.
It's the same 75mm bore, the extra displacement is from the stroke.

You could swap a z6 head on a d17 block with some machine work (oil holes don't line up)
And there's an issue with the crank pulley not fitting right.

But it has been done.

I have never seen the whole motor swapped in an EG though.
