vss help

- Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:37 am #173987 ight well my speedo works but not reading right...it sometimes says im goin 20 as soon as i start off.....im guessing it just the sensor part mssin up am i right.....but if im not where do i get the part that goes into the tranny?

- Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:49 am #173989 Well, the sensor is nothing more than a gear that turns with the transmission so im betting that your cluster is starting to go bad. The VSS rarely goes bad cause theres not much that can go bad with it.

If its reading 20mph right when you start to pull off, it may be the gears in te speedo sticking or starting to go bad.

And im thinking this is posted in the wrong section, May have to go in the transmission, Engine-General, or chassis electrical section as this hasnt anything to do with the D-series engine, Dont know for sure though. Mods will be the ultimate decision makers.

- Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:51 am #173990 well you can either post a wanted ad im sure someones got one kicking around but sounds like someone did something maybe to your speedo....not too sure tho but yea sounds like either the sensor or the speedo in the cluster....
