#175140 I couldn't find the right spot where to put this topic. So sorry if its not the right one. I thought it was the best choice.

So when i bught my EG couple of months ago my friend told me wen he had it that some Honda theives tried to steal his car but they couldnt so they broke his window and pour sugar in the gas tank  . So i let the car go from Full to empty and it wasnt hard to do (just pulled up on people) lol and then after that i let it sit for a week so i can see if the sugar went up to the fuel filter and it turns out that it did. so now im not sure if i have to buy another gas tank swap it or just flush it out and replace the fuel filter and replace the fuel pump. My friend had the car for a good 3 years before he sold it and well i gotta fix it now.

What do you guys recommend? Also do you guys think im going to have engine proformince issuse? so far only the fuel filter is what is getting abused?

#175142 that sucks that someone did that to his car. Basically there are three things it will affect MOST. They are fuel filter, fuel pump, and fuel injectors. when the sugar gets to these components, it will cause hesitation, lack of power, bogging, and stalling (and possibly more, these are the most common)
Your best bet would be to drop the tank and have it cleaned, get a new fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel injectors. And that is about it, im sure someone else will chime in. Good luck.

#175147 No problem man, thats what forums are for. I do not know of and products that could be used to flush and clean the tank, because ive never had to do it, but i would THINK you could use some not as powerful degreasers. I would be skeptical to try until i got a definite answer because of the fumes it could produce. 8)

#175172 there's a drain plug on the lower left corner of the gas tank, maybe you can jack the front right corner of the car up and that will allow you to flush the tank without dropping it.
Pull the fuel pump out under the rear seat for access to spray out the inside of the tank with the cleaner or whatever you can use.

#176247 well i went to the local autoparts store and they didnt sell NADA only injector cleaner so that was a dead end they said they had nothing that cleans the tank :? so i wet alon to drain the tank and wen all the gas was drained i stuck a water hose up in the bitch with a pressure garden attachment and it cleaned it pretty good but a pressure washer would work 5 to 10x's better bcuz its slimer and had a bent front end. I say barrow a pressure washer and blast it clean. i didnt take out the floater for the fuel sensor but i recommend you do for a better cleaning. :thumb:
