#176215 This has been like this for a while now.

when idle the temp gauge will rise and i will feel heat coming from the heaters but as soon as i start driving the temp gauge drops below the line and theres no heat ?

the clip behind the dash of the heater console is broke off but i can push and pull the lever from the engine bay but even then it doesn't make a difference to whats hapening

#176237 theres actually two heater control setups one that is i think semi electrically controlled(engine bay) and one under the dash near the glove box....

i know the one near the glove box controls my heat....

but im thinking if its heating up when your sitting still but when your driving it cools right down....could it maybe be the thermostat??

it can freeze open or shut in this case itd be open alowing coolant in the motor before it properly warms up etc keeping things cold....

#176248 If the thermoatat was stuck open, would the car warm up and blow heat when sitting for a while after he started it?

I think it would stay cold all the time if the thermostat was stuck open.

#176284 i have somewhat the same problem with my coupe...

the car starts just fine, warms up just fine, thermostat opens just fine, i just never get anything even close to heat. at first I figured the thermostat just wasnt working right so I replaced that, didnt help. so i took that valve outta the hose in the engine bay and just put a hose connector in its place so I figured I'd have heat all the time but nope didnt change a thing. I bled all the air out of the cooling system and still no heat...

it freaking sucks and im out of ideas

#180458 id get a new thermo your radiator works leaps and bounds better with air running through it so it would make sense that driving brings your temp down as far as the valve under the hood that controls flow to the heater core flippin that is only half the battle. theres also a foam/plastic barrier that prevents heat from your heater core from getting into the vent system if you lay on your back passenger side floor style looking under your glove box you will see another kinda valve lookin thing that will open and close this foam/plastic barrier and your heat shall flow!
btw taking your heater core out is a nightmare

#180517 thermostat needs changing mate, my mb6 did exactly the same thing, would get up to normal temp then while driving will drop to the bottom, once replaced and bled will work sweet!!
