the D16 Vtec head has the dizzy with the bolts a bit off.

and the D15 vtec head are the same as non vtec?

if so ill have no problem getting a dizzy for it.

its just the Z6 vtec motor that ive read up upon and know for a fact that it will only accept Z6 distributors looking up on ebay for the D15b dizzy its come up as a TD42u which is the same as a D15b7 and stuff like that....

I could be wrong however to be honest not a 100% confident in my quick research but if its possible to get a buddy rung up with a civic id try and see if you could borrow his dizzy quick to see if thats the problem

#177690 Okay, just took out my sisters D15B7 dizzy and went to put it on mine.
However the bolts dont match up to mine? i thought they were all the same except for the Z6?
i have the D15 Vtec, guy said he got it in from japan and it looks pretty fresh.
what dizzy do i need? the D16Z6 one?

#177691 WHAT!!! Amazing what 2 seconds of research can bring up! 8)

"the B16a2/3 (160 hp DOHC VTEC) and the D15B. (130 hp VTEC SOHC) The D15B shares the same head as the US Civic SI (D16Z6) but a unique block, crank, and rods."

Straight from wiki haha.

Hmm guess im stuck looking for a D16Z6 dizzy now. damn there hard to come by here :?

i hope this is the problem.

#177698 I wish I had seen this thread sooner... some wrong info in here. The D16z6, D15B and D15z1 use the distributor with the different bolt pattern. D15b7 or D15b8 will not fit.

If you can find a d15b7 distributor, they use the same ICM as the D16z6, so you can swap the ICM over. :thumb:

#177702 hmm okay. is it only the B15B7 ICM i can use in my dizzy?
or any other D15 dizzy ICM's?
My dad havew a 97 Del Slo with a B16. any chance that dizzy will fit on that head to try? haha

#177707 Also i was just checking out the ICM in my Dizzy and noticed the 2 Phillips screws on it had been worn. almost stripped. It looks like someone has tampered with this before??

#177735 I'm not sure on the B series... But I know any 92-95 D series will work. Open up the B16 one and see if it looks the same :thumb:

Yeah if the screws are stripped, then it's been done before. They strip easily too if you don't use the right sized phillips

#178010 UPDATE!!

i got the car running!

went to the yard to pick up an ICM
went to 3 dizzy's on some sohc non vtec cars and i pulled 3 different ICM's
had the right one and put it on and still no spark.

soo this morning went up and got a D16Z6 dizzy for 113$
put it on and started right up.

should have just bought it on the first place haha.
i guess it must have been the ignition coil?

did i have the wrong cap and rotor that fried it? or just the new parts?
im scared to put my new cap and rotor on it hahaha.
Thanks for all the help posted! :D
