#178701 In the mornings I turn my car on so it can warm up, it idles just fine. But when am driving out in the street and stop at a light. It starts idling from 1k-1.5k. It just idles when it's warm an stopped. Someone have some advice?

I did a swap recently and thats about all I've done to the engine.

#178725 my mb6 did this and it was down to a faulty thermostat, it would get warm, idle irratically and the temp would drop when driving.

It's probably getting low when your thermostat opens after warming up.

I checked and its low on coolant

Thats the thing, my temp is normal doesn't go crazy up or down.

#178778 hmm my car idles at 2K when its cold and 1200/1100 the rest of the time.
my coolant is fine. but it happened right when i replaced my dizzy.

if i rotate my dizzy either way will this lower my idle speed?

#178790 Just a though, but have you checked ignition timing? That would cause a little higher idle than normal.

#178814 Did you check your FITV? I did and it solved my problem on idle issues.

If it is your FITV, remove, clean and put it back. Problem will be solved.

#178846 oh yea i forgot to mention testing to see if the pcv is the culprit is easy! let the engine warm up till the idle bounces. disconnect the fatty vacuum line just to the left of the one connected to your fuel rail from the manifold then plug the hole with your finger. if its your pcv it should idle fine with that plugged and you should replace the valve. hope this helps...

#179859 Have you looked into cleaning the FITV or IACV.

Coolant flows through those parts and being that it only happens when your car gets warm, I'm thinking it has something to do with the coolant temperature.

Everything else is fine with your car?

#179897 I haven't checked those yet. No just the idling.

#180727 hey, my civic is still having that surging idle problem.
i did some searching and came across something

it told me to take the hose that plugs into the top, front of my intake manifold and plug it with my finger.
sooo i did it and it started idleing fine!!

and then when you put the hose back it starts doing it again.

i think it goes to the PCV thing, right?
if so can i just block it off for good? or is this a sign of something i can fix?
