If it says "D16Z6" it's a D16Z6. No mystery there. There are ZC equivalents of this motor with slight slight differences in cams and ECU tuning, but then it would say "ZC" on your block. And then there's the "D15B"... but yeah. You know what you have.

Spend 2-3k on a D series and you might keep up with a stock-ish B. And you're pretty much at your limit with that motor while with a B series you're just getting started. I mean, you might be justified in keeping a D16Z6 over the way overpriced B16. But the D will never be both fast and reliable unless you really lay out some cash. It simply does not have the potential of even the B16. Best real world build for a daily driver on a reasonable budget is actually a B18B turbo with a GSR trans. If you get tired of that you throw cams and cam gears on it.

This is not to say that a D series turbo, (or a D series (especially D16A6) with high comp pistons, a cam, VTEC trans, and some bolts-ons) would not be tons of fun and very rewarding.

- Tue Mar 23, 2010 2:57 am #183026 thanks suspenedhatch but i was lookin up some info ...let me know what u think i my wish list an maybe be a project and but not really doin to much to the motor or tranny and its a stock ex coupe i put a pic up and its stock block and tranny , but i was goin to just buy a new intake skunk2 mainfold ,whole full exhaust system from headers to cat bak ,stage 3 clutch and a ecu chip and of course with some more mods like intake and lower contral arms for more handleing and camber kits, i have skunk2 coilovers but complete susepension .....well let me know if its a good start and good build remeber iam a noobie so let me know what u think give some advice and what should i save or sell to get sumthin better :thumb: :wink: :lol:

agreed, like i said you will save on weight wich is good (but its not a whole lot of weight), but it only robs power when your using it, if you do decide to take it off, try not to destroy it, save it for if you change your mind later...

that should be around 200 or 250
you pair that with some bolt on mods and an ac delete you should have a pretty rev happy motor :thumb:

as far as it being too much, i would say probally not, it will be agressive and probally very "grabby". the main thing to watch with a puck clutch is not to "shock" your driveline when you take off, as this will take alot of wear and tear on your diff, i have seen many B-series diff torn out because of this i highly recomend a lsd with a "puck" clutch... but enough of that... i have used the "ebay brand" f1 racing clutchs, they have the blue pressure plate, they work well but the only ones i have used of them for myself are the stg1, they come witha organic stock style disc, a friend got the f1 stage 3 clutch for his h2b and after about 5k he had to drop the trans for some reason i dnt remember now, i belive it had to do with the flywheel, but when he pulled the stg3 disc out, the rivits had torn loose frome the disc on one or 2 of the pads... i cannot say this will happen to you, but jus be cautious... honestly you do get what you pay for, if your not going real radical, i would say a good stage 1 clutch would be ok, a good budget clutch is a ZOOM, i have used there stage3 kit and have taken it back apart to do engine work to the car after i installed it, it was in near perfect shape... i can vouch for the quality on the ZOOM clutch i installed, it was a nice kit.. but it was about 300 for just the clutch kit... as far as the ebay clutch goes like i said, ive only used the f1 brand and just there stage 1 for myself, and i had good luck with it...

better yet leave your shifter stock and get new bushings for the linkage
its night and day difrence :thumb:

yea honestly i like my buddy club, its just differnt shifting when your crusing easy... but i love it when im really going thru the gears... and i wouldnt recomend cutting your stock one either... the buddy club is just different, not a bad different tho... i just a differnt feel than my stock shifter in my daily driver... but i do like it :lol:
