- Sat Mar 27, 2010 3:48 am #183950 i have a tapping noise coming from my head i thought it was the valves so i did an adjustment, still tapping. it doesnt tap when the car is cold only when it warms up and goes away when i hits vtec comes back when i come out of vtec. everything looks ok under the valve cover. car runs perfect just sounds like crap always sounded like that but its time to do something about it. a friend told me that it might be the lost motion assemblies but idk how true that is. has anybody had this problem and if so can u give me some input thanks

after you let it sit for a night? That is very critical
and did you get the correct measurements for the
feeler gauges?

- Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:00 am #183965 yea did them in the correct order 1-3-4-2 each at TDC and rotated the crank 180 degrees counterclockwise for each cylinder, adjusted intake to .006in and exhaust .007in. with snap-on feeler gauges. still did the same thing no tapping when cold and started tapping when warm its been bugging me cant figure it out.

- Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:36 pm #184343 you could have a collapsed LMA (lost motion assembly)... when they wear out they can cause alot of noise.... there often overlooked, if your buying new ones up grade to the typeR they have a bigger surface aera... or inline four sells a factory upgrade one....
