first off no ther is no way to prevent it from cracking. bondo is not to be used like that. if its to thick it just cracks. its designed to smooth out body repairs, not for molding....
second, the way to tak the pc of is to remove the dashboard. its held in by like 8-10 screws. you can do what most ppl do, brake the old one off and were you would srew it in, you would rather use a high strngth apoxi and glue it back on. that what i did.
