#185437 okay so i went to check out a 1995 civic hatch CX.
it was red and stick so i thought it would be a good parts car to build up my SI project.
It has a blown head gasket so i can pick it up for cheap.
However the body is mint and its decent looking hatch, bone stock

on the other hand my 92 si has NO QP on one side and floors falling part under the drivers seat, cracked windshield, bottom end knock.....

SO it would make more sense to put my parts in this CX hatch.
Cluster, interior, suspension, etc...
BUT i would loose cruise, sunroof, powermirrors, rear discs, and my JDM D15B

So this is my dilemma, Should i keep the CX's bottom end and through on my Vtec head? and is rear discs really worth the work?
anything else ill loose out on?

#185482 yep just take off both dashboards swap the interior harness swap over your dash from the si to retain buttons if your lazy lol and dont feel like popping them out.....

i think the gas pedal may be different on cars with the cruise so id sa switch that while the dash is out. if you see a difference i.e. cant hook up cruise control cable....

then reinsert your dash......

take apart your doors and now you can take the door harness out of your si and plop it into the cx giving you power mirrors windows etc.....

Now the sunroof part im not a hundred percent sure on that...so im not going to comment on that possibly you might be able to take the headliner down and look and see if there are any indentations or boltholes for the sunroof

next your D15b rebuild it and plop her in since you switched over the harness from your si you should have vtec and everything wireed up

Then go have some fun because you now have a clean hatch and please try and keep this one rust free lol

#185489 haha okay sounds good.
but with my bottom end knock in my SI i dont think i want to use that engine.
And my D15B has a little more aggresive cam so if i mini me swap it with me head i think it would be just as good? no?

dont really care about the sunroof. and the rear disks? do i really need them? will they make that much of a difference?

Yea mini-me will definately be a large improvement over the stock cx motor and you can do it on those since teh 92-95 cx was built with the 16vpistons tho it only has a 8v head.....

screw the sunroof

the rear disc and actually front disc i would swap over as well for looks and stopping ability and ease of pad swaps etc....the front cx rotors are tiny compared to the si's and rear disc is always wonderful....if you dont have abs make sure to swap over your brake master and prop valve too.....

#185494 okay cool.
no my SI has no abs or airbag crap.

Now will the D15B7 with D15B head on it be just as good as the original JDM D15B?

as far as i know the pistons are possibly a bit different in the d15b but besides that of coarse the intake will be diffrent so switch that but yea you should be good to go there and it should have close to the same power maybe a bit less or a bit more....but all and all it should be fine just remember to change the trans...

The b7/z6 mini-me will have full point higher compression than the d15b due to having flat topped pistons instead of dished. The b7/z6 mini me will yeild ~10.2:1 compression (vs. ~9.3 for the d15b), which will make it slightly peppier than the d15b. I love mine.

The other difference is the rods. The crankshaft on the b7 is different from the d15b ... and the rods are a bit thinner (IIRC). There are more aftermarket options with the d15b bottom end than the b7 bottom end. Depending on what you are planning performance-wise the b7 bottom end should be just fine for you.

#186227 Didn't I tell you to pick up the SI shell that someone had for sale on jdmrides.ca? It was out your way. That way you would have kept all the great bits from the SI (sunroof, cruise, etc., -- you know the list). He listed the body as in good condition -- well maybe you checked it out ... how do I know. Anyway, sounds like the CX deed is done now... good luck! :)
