#187325 My d16z6 did the weirdest thing today. I went to start it after a 3.5 hour baseball game, and while it was idling for five minutes a bang/clattering/clunking sound came from the back and the engine turned off. It wouldn't even crank, it was like I had a completely dead battery. The damn thing took five minutes to start, and it was immediate. One minute it wouldn't even crank or turn on the lights, then 30 seconds later it starts like nothing happened. 5 minutes later when I pulled up at my house and parked it did the same thing. It now starts normally every time, but I need to find out if it is just something as simple as me accidentally letting the clutch out or something I need to fix as this is my dd. Thanks

#187493 Check your power connections at the battery, starter, and under-hood fuse box. Then check the grounds at the battery, strut tower, trans, and valve cover.

#187561 I know it sounds dumb but it was just one of those days. :eh: I'll be sure to check all those things, and no I did not get a check engine light.

#187763 Ok it happened again today, turns out the clamps around the battery post on the neg side has worn down and won't stay on. I'll just have to get new clamps. On a slightly unrelated note, when I turn my steering wheel going about 25-30 mph a high pitched moaning sound comes from under the hood. Could that be a power steering pump, or a suspension component?

#187765 your name is definitely fitting

PS does kinda whine when you turn the wheel, maybe check the fluid levels for it?

#188165 That's the belt squealing. Inspect the belt for hardness and cracking, missing grooves. If it's still good then just tighten it.

I'm 2 for 2 on this one.

So you picked the name noob... are you going to keep that name forever? Or are you not going to be with us very long?

lol hopefully by the end of this june I'll have sufficient experience to not have that name. I need to do timing belt, brakes all around, input shaft bearing, fuses, battery terminals. And rust. :thumb:
