#187370 My car is having a VTEC issue. My vtec will engage but it falls off, then catches back on, and so on...its very spotty. Tomorrow Im going to check out a bunch of wires, make sure there isn't anything visibly loose. Id like to get this fixed before i drive to las vegas in 2 weeks, heh.

The problem seemed to have progressively gotten worse. I tryed to show my mechanic a week ago, and i couldn't get the problem to happen. Now its pretty sure shot to happen every time. I also notice it more when the car is warmed up. hmmm. Any Ideas?

Oh and also, my car other wise runs great. Its had a complete tune up over the past 3 months. 115k on motor.

VTEC just goes rrrrrrrrr.. RRRRRRRRRrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Thanks.

#187390 check your oil level first, vtec will not engage if its low, then check the screen in your soleniod assembly, then you get into a oil pressure switch or possible vtec solenoid could be bad. i would check all your wiring before id condem those parts... id also make sure theres no corrosion built up in your soleniod plug or that the plug hasnt broken connection inside of it, and make sure your oil pressure switch plug in is clean... hope this helps... :thumb:

a possible way to diag your oil pressure swtich is to unhook it, take a 2.5 inch long piece of wire or so, strip both ends of it and then twist the ends of the wire and then insert the stripped ends of the wire into the oil pressure switch plug (Green plug on the vtec assebly)... if the switch is bad vtec will work with out problems and you need a pressure switch then...
