#188732 okay so i got a B16 head with my B18 and was going to do a LS swap.
now im looking at picking up a B16 block to use my head with.

i need to know if my head will bolt onto the block?
its a 2000 sir 2nd gen A2, short block
and i have no idea what my head is?

how do i find out? and is it a straight bolt on?

#188735 any b16 head will bolt to any b16 block... gen dosent matter, for that fact any gsr head will bolt to a b16 block... even the b17 head (same casting as b16 but diff. cams) will work, as long as its a b series vtec head and the vtec block it is a direct bolt up, dosent matter, they all use the same head gasket for that matter....

#188739 awesome! so its only the LS swap that needs the oil line feed?

#188740 correct :thumb: , ls/v and b20/v are the only ones that need an oil line

#188741 good to know thanks :thumb:

now another question that i was wondering....
say i wanted to build the B16 using other parts from better B series
what should i go with? pistons, crank, and all that stuff?

i plan on staying N/A

#188743 personally, if your going b16 all motor, and you dont want to spend the money for an eagle stroker kit like the one i have, i would shotpeen and balance your stock rods, and deburr the parting lines or casting lines on the beams, get arp rod bolts, knife edge the stock b16 crank, bore the block, and maybe shave the head a little and some mild port work, and the get high compression kit i gave you the link too below, and balance the whole rotating assembly, and id do a fully built head with crower valvetrain... id say you could pull off close to 250 whp (maybe more :?) na with a setup like that... the only reason i say to keep your stock b16 crank is because the b16 has and amazing r/s (rod to stroke ratio) of about 1.74:1 with is great for high reving... wich if you stay na is what you will have to do to make power is to rev it...

i have heard that the gsr engine and itr engine have narrower connecting rods than the b18a/b and b16a engines... so the interchange ability there maybe limited...

#188748 my stroker kit is about 1500 new its the eagle .... honestly the only thing you pick up is some torque... i got mine used for a great price... it was in one engine and the guy leaned it out on the dyno and melted a piston, didnt hurt the bottom end, i had it checked at a machine shop... so all i need is a set of pistons, im looking forward to my build... one day lol

ill start shopping around for some parts to build the bottom end.

if anyone else has info please post.
Thanks! :thumb:

im not gona lie, the components are way high quality and the crank is lightend, i wouldnt have gotten it if i wouldnt have gotten a good deal on it used, the crank still had assembly lube on it when i got it... but for the money it costs, you can do alot with they first way i told you :thumb: the big thing that would hit the sweet spot for an engine like that would be an 98+ itr or ctr or si trans... the itr is ultra low geard and lsd... and the only difference between the ctr and si, is the ctr has the double syncro and lsd...

#188763 haha really eh, that tranny is a must then.
how much do those usually go for?

#188767 for an all motor setup that trans will keep you in your power band better, i would highly recomend investing in one,

from hmotors there about 1200+ shipped on a pallet, i have seen them for 700 to 800 in local traders, thats going off of the itr trans, the si you could prob find for the 500 range, but for tha kinda power id highly recomend an lsd equiped trans as well....
