#190212 SO I was out this weekend and was doing some "SAFE" speeding. lol. and for some odd reason on 2nd gear after vtec engagement(4600k, on chipped ecu) around 6k it mkaes like a fuel cut thing. like a red line. my red line it set to 8k. then i shifted to 3rd went to about 4500rpm and it did it again. this is all under full throttle. under normal driving it's perfectly fine. This is a D16z6

i get noooooooo CEL's at all. i thought it would be my TPS, but that would definately throw me a light. fuel pump main relay is brand new would also give me a light. it's not that.

Im thinking something to do with Fuel pressure. maybe fuel pump..
this has been going for about a month or so now. i did the timing belt and fuel pump over the weekend thinking it had something to do with my waterpump some how because it was leaking badly.. but it still does it. Timing belt was done properly everything is in proper timing.

Now another thing i can think of is the Distributor igniter? but the dizzy is also new from last summer. not even a year yet.

has anyone ever experienced something like this or have any idea as to what else i should check. ?

Any idea as to what would make the car engage a premature fuel cut under load?

TEAL, Suspended Hatch?.. =]

#190214 well just wondering here how was the ecu chipped? im wondering fi you used another non chipped P28 if it would do the same thing that you are explaining right now if so you can rule that out....now adequate fuel may be a possible cause as from what you are explaining its leaning out....which has me thinking it may be a map sensor issue not a hundred percent sure there either but im more leaning towards the ecu being the issue.....

but there could be other things as well did you happen to change your air filter recently idk if the motor sounds like its choking at all but id see about that as well.....and how old are the spark plugs i mean if its fine under normal driving im sure its fine but just wondering asking questions to better understand here....

so what im leaning towards
-ECU
-possibly a fuel issue.....but idk
-MAP sensor malfunction maybe not bad but maybe not good either....
-not getting enough air -clogged air filter etcv.....

Have you tried useing injector cleaner or anything like that?

#190215 Is your car boosted? What mods have you done to your engine? Why do you have a chipped ecu?
There's so much junk out there that people are calling "chipped ecu" I'd try a different ecu first. Especially if you bought the ecu already chipped and you don't know anything about it.
Has it been tuned with your car? What software?

Honda fuel pumps are not known for failing, so I don't think that's the problem. A fuel gauge is cheap and a good piece of mind when it comes to solving this stuff. :thumb:

Give us some more info on your ECU and mods :thumb:

#190232 Classic:

you know what now that u mention it, my MAP Sensor is old. that's pretty much one sensor i havent replaced. but i think i would get a CEL for that. not sure but ima check. The ECU is got it off ebay. chipped to my mods and specs. not dyno tuned at all. it's def a p28, chipped.

I got it from Ebay from Speed Innovations ECU. they have you fill out a sheet with mnods which i gave them and asked me for Vtec point, Launch control point and redline and full throttle shift point.

TEAL:

My ECU is from Speed Innovations( AUtoComputers Direct) Located in Florida. they back their chipped honda ECU's 100% they even talk crap about other vendors goiung the cheap way on chipping ecu's .

Im Not boosted yet. I do have the AEM EMS sitting there new in box for when i do boost.

I just got this chipped p28 last year. to give me a lil more response from the engine. which it definately has. engine woke up after swappping out the ECU's. i still have my stock p28 that my car originally came with. i will try swapping it out to see if it still does it.

Classic mentioned the MAP. damn if its the stock one damn i think it's time fro a rep;lacement since it's from back in 1993 199k miles. lol.. it's def not the OEM motor that one died on me, 11k miles ago. picked up a 94 d16z6 from an auto 4dr civic ex. that had a cracked intake manifold. I ended up reusing my entire intake manifold replaced all sensor in the intake area minus the MAP SENSOR!!!! lol..

#190233 well it could also bee a vaccum problem possibly since you mentioned 93....92-93 have the maps on the firewall so im thinking check out your vaccum lines.....see if any are cracked dry rotted etc....

#190240 nope. my MAp Sensor is definately on top of the Manifold. it's a 93 civic Si. i think that only pertains to non EX/Si models of 92 and 93.

and Vacuum im not totally sure what happens during a vacuum leak. gotta look into that.

#191026 ok so i put my factory ecu back on and swapped out the map sensor.

still does the same thing. My only other thought is my Speed sensor VSS..
