well you sir are incorrect about the head thing, a b16 head is higher compression for a lsv or b20v because they come with a ls head from the factory not a gsr... and if you ever have had the 2 side by side the difference in the combustion chamber is obvious, the b16 has a more open and rounded chamber, making it the better head for a NA build because you can squeeze more of a dome on the piston up into the chamber, a gsr head has a flat, closed combustion chamber, making it the better head choice for a FI build... All i have ever really had has been a B series, and i know the parts pretty well...
(and if i didnt know this from experience or just general knowledge, go to any compression calculator and it will show the gsr head giving more compression)
LS 45.0cc
B16A 42.7cc
GSR 41.6cc <- smaller = more compressoin
http://ariaspistons.com/products/acurahonda.html use this link, it gives compression specs for a LS & b20 with each type of head
and the gsr cams are bigger than the b16 from the factory, but they are ground for a 1.8L with a talller deck, more torque and a dual stage intake manifold, things a b16 was never ment to have, a gsr makes more torque than a b16 due to the stroke and rod length and the geometry in the bottom end... and the gsr cams were ground to match that bottom end and its dual stage intake runner, the lsa, and duration is off for what a b16 needs, as it is a higher reving lower torque engine, thats why i recomend keeping the cams matched to the bottom end rather than the head...
i will say i used gsr cams in my lsv with a b16 head, but it was only because i didnt have a single stage intake for my gsr head at the time, and i used the gsr cams because i wanted better low end, and a ls is alot more torque than a b16....
and for your freinds b20v the head could have been shaved, or if piston to valve clearence wasnt checked, and you said that engine was a high compression engine in another thread... so valve clearence is a must...
