#193152 I've searched around quite a bit, but wanted to start a post to see what everyone suggests. My question is, I'm putting a D16Z6 w/5spd (with around 100K miles) in place of my D15B7 (5spd also), what all should I do to it before the install? I'm definitely going to do a new timing belt, tensioner, and water pump for sure. Anything else I need to do as preventive maintenance? Just want to me able to drop this thing in and have a good motor that's ready to go for many miles to come. I've always been the type I rather do it right the first time than to have to do it again later. Thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.

#193156 i would suggest putting a new clutch while the motor is out. check around to see if it is leaking oil from anywhere and replace any seals or gaskets if necessary.

#193157 Yeah I forgot to mention, I'm definitely going to new seals, valve cover gasket etc, before it goes in. Any recommendations on which cluthc/pressure plate to buy (or not to buy)?

#193256 I was actually going to ask about that, once I looked at the item listing.

This car will be a daily driver, gas mileage car, so I can leave the my lifted crew cab F350 at home some when I dont need it. Any other suggestions on a clutch?

#193263 Exedy OEM replacement or at most, Stage 1. Stock flywheel but resurfaced. Don't blow hundreds of dollars on a clutch you don't need and you're going to hate. I've never understood this.

#193324 definitely dont get a stage 3 for a DD. It gets pretty annoying. either a stage 1 or 2, i would personally go stage 2, but thats just me. Exedy or XTD would be good choices.

Another thing you should do while the motor is out is check your axles to see if theyre ripped. getting new tranny oil wouldnt be a bad idea either. Thats what i would do. :thumb:

#194702 Do I need to stick with OEM Honda parts for the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump? I don't mind paying the extra $$$ if OEM parts are better, but if there are cheaper ones that are just as good or better, let me know. Thanks
