actually it is.... with my 4 dr eg when i did this my motor wouldnt even get to half temp...

its work the same as the gay evo hood that has the vent at the top of the motor

but that was designed that way by engineers, and it looks good too. having the gay "jdm" tilt is absolutely stupid. not getting your car up to right temp isn't good for it.

Its not jdm at all... people in the 50's 60's 70's where doing it on there massive V8 drag cars to get better air flow. and keep the motor cool..i donno :? ..imo it helps and i would suggest it to anyone who lives in a area that gets super hot in the summer..

then unbolt hood,

put the spacer ( red piece in pic ) between the hood and the mount insert bolt,

tighten down go to other side repeat

- Mon May 31, 2010 5:32 am #197895 some magazine...i think sport compact or somone did a test with this thing. the "jdm tilt". it actually did keep the temps in the engine bay lower, not a huge difference, i think it was like 12 or 13 degrees. nothing major, but it does work. i'm kind of indifferent on the whole thing. up in dever cooler engine temps arent a huge deal, it would just be something i would do cause no one else has it, plus it works. kind of.

That's too cold to run your engine temp. To vaporize the fuel and make the most power, the engine needs to maintain 195 F. That's how they were designed. I know it sounds high but it's actually the bleeding edge between performance and overheating. That's why the fan kicks on when you go just slightly higher.

If you run too cold, your ECU will be stuck in warm up mode, indicated by unusually high idle. You'll run rich with retarded timing which is costing you power and accelerating engine wear. You'll fail the emissions test as well. If you drive long enough, the ECU catches on to the problem and will throw a CEL.


there is a reason why engineers design something to run at a certain temp. lots of other cars in "hot" areas and you don't see them cracking there hood at the back. it's stupid.

- Mon May 31, 2010 4:57 pm #197943 woah method chill out we get that you think its stupid....mmmkkkay... we also understand that it was designed a certain way... but you know what your car was designed with everything that it came from the factory, "nothing more". they didnt intend on you or someone else lowering the car nor did they intend for massive amounts of camber, or someone boosting the na motor that they put in the car, or changing the exhaust, or chipping your ecu, or doing any of the things we do. Sorry if im coming across as a dick but that's not intended.. nor do i mean to be an ethug.. all you have done is bash the idea. and say its gay. people mod their car. if its something i dont like and think is gay i dont comment.. :? i donno maybe thats just me. i thought that on here we try to help people and show what we are doing. im not trying to get into a fight or anything guy just wanted to know what to use... sorry if you feel that i am being a dick
