#199804 alright so i was kinda inspired by an anime spinoff if you will of initial D called wangan midnight long story short datsun 240z with a l28 2.8l had pretty much everything l28 except they had a 3.0l crankshaft in it and it made pretty decent power no one could touch but meh anyhow it inspired me to think along with the article of the strocker D

well theres a D17 in my junkyard and i was thinking of getting the bottom end from it not sure if i want to use the whole bottom end or just the crank and stuff needed....so yea i am just wondering what you guys think about the whole idea this would be as follows

Y7 head possible cam for turbo setup
a Turbo -T03 .60 trim
z6 block or d17 depends
d17 internals with I beam or solid rods and vitara pistons

im not sure what i want to do but its in there and im wondering if i should do it lol.....

or should i not even waste my time and just stick with using 1.6l stuff since there are alot of 1.6l things....

#199842 I'm, Pretty sure if you put d16 pistons on a d17 rod it will stick above the deck of your block due to the d17's pistons higher wrist pin.

A Big downside is you wont get the awesome aftermarket of Rods and Pistons that the D16z6 is known for. I dont think have ever seen forged d17 rods or pistons. Another downside is you will loose some high end reving potential, however given your staying non-vtec that shouldn't be an issue.

If I was building a D Series and have access to a D17 Crank, Rods and Pistons I would totally swap that into a D16 block. More Stroke is more Torque, More Torque is More power.

Also You know the saying "No Replacement for Displacement*"
* Except for Power to Weight, Forced Induction, Nitrous Setups, and Over all more Driver Experience.

Your Setup will be awesome, Taking tons of people by surprise. "Whats in there" "Oh Just a z6"

by spin off i meant it was made anime pretty much the same flat characters drawn and then 3-dish computer generated races....and some things like that.....and x2 for the devil z wish there was other anime like initial D and wangan midnight

and yea i just got my paycheck today and more than likely imma call first see how much it is then ill probaly grab it monday after work i hate that kinda civic tho cant drop the motor straight thru damn undercarage brace lol

but yea crower makes rods for the D17 given they are 700 dallors lol i dont know if i wish to just go ahead and stay D16 turbo or d17 due to the price of the rods i mean i probaly could sneak away with just useing the oem rods but i dont like takng chances.....

i wonder if there is a oem honda rod much like the B18 over into the D16 that i could use.....

and they do make pistons for the motor as well....so yea still gotta do more research before monday rolls around if i really wish to go this route it will definately be interesting to say the least....
