#203930 Hey all,

ive posted a few times on this topic so sorry but im learnin as i go :D

Ive got as far as disconecting all hoses, most of the harnesses etc so a bit more to do before I swap the motor... my question is, in the below pic Im holding a loose wire at the strut tower. I heard some non vtec d series were pre wired for vtec up to the strut tower. is this wire for the VTEC? and if so whats the best way to conect this to the D16Z6 harness??

Cheers Guys

#203979 that wire your holding looks like the jumper for a tachometer

#203981 And im also fairly sure the VTEC wires are on the other strut tower and they go down into that side of the loom. I have no idea what that plug is though sorry...

#204022 You will need to wire vtec then.
It not hard.

#204282 if you have a z6 harness you can just unplug the b7 harness and plug in the z6 harness. vtec wireing will already be done
please post more shots of your engine bay, as i am not familiar with rhd bays.

#204296 as per my other thread, I have had to put my b7 back in. the engine now runs although it sounds like its either misfiring or the timing is off? I did take off the dizzy to compare it to the one I got with the z6 (the reason I cant use the z6 yet) and refitted it to the b7. is there something i could have missed when putting the dizzy back on? it seems to be on exactly how it came off and the plugs are the same also :?

(I havent touched the timing belt either)

#204297 Its the test connector for the tachometer. I'm sure because it took me forever to find when i was putting in my remote start.

#204317 where does that connect to? is it a pipe or a plug??

also, its making a kind of whistling noise too... :(

#204320 ok, im certain that my taking the dizzy off and putting it back on has messed up the timing, the car hadnt been moved while the dizzy was off and the engine hadnt been turned over at all so hadnt changed position. could i have even been able to put it back on wrong?? if so how can i check that everything is where it should be?

#204321 you can't put on the distributor wrong, if its the b7 distributor.
as long as the 3 bolts are in it should run, though not perfectly.
maybe your plug wires are not in the correct order.
also, a vacuum leak will cause it to run horribly.
<-- just put a z6 into my dx

#204326 i just tried to turn the rotor 180 and it wont go in, i guess thats what you meant? so the whistling noise is probably the problem? has anyone had a whistling around the inlet mani before?
