#208635 I got an EG and I love that thing
Just swapped to jdm D15b vtec
Two of my friends have cavaliers
One of them is boosted
The only problem is I hate cavaliers and they front them
They say 2.2l ecotecs have more potential

This is what one of em told me
" Racing a civic is like being in the special Olympics. Even if you win, your still retarded :-) lol "

Question and or advice I need
Im shooting for a boosted and built DD
Is it realistic to be able to eat most modified cars being a D15bv DD?
And can I beat the shit out of cavys?

other random advice is welcome

#208643 yes it is realistic to have a DD sohc vtec boosted car. You can get loads of power when done right. Stock motors can take around 200 whp just fine. Ive seen some 3-400 hp dd sohc turbo cars.

YOu will be able to beat alot of cars. Provided you can drive.

#208676 Plus just tell them Cavaliers are for CHICKS. Ask them why they are driving their girlfriends car.

#209461 Not to knock on Hondas or anything ... I drive one (or else I wouldn't be here). But they are right about the engines ... to a point. A 2.2L DOHC engine does have more potential than a 1.5 SOHC, sorry but that's just facts (think H22 vs. D15 ... same concept). That being said ... Hondas have an advantage over many manufacturers in that their cars are much, much lighter. This means every increase in power affects our cars more. This is why you see Hondas spanking the shit out of V8s ... most V8 powered cars a incredibly heavy compared to a Honda (they need a lot more frame to handle the torquey engines they have). So yeah the engine may have more potential but in a car that weighs more.

Although unless you are driving a hatch, there's not much of an advantage in weight since the ecotec cav's weigh in at ~2600 lbs, and the EG coupes and sedans are ~2200 and ~2600 respectively (depending on the year).

The other cool thing about Hondas is the ready availability and swapability of ALL the parts. Take any part from any civic (or integra) from 88 - 2001 (I think), and you can pretty much bolt it on to another from the same range (with little to no modification). Hell the first gen CRVs and the 92 - 95 civics share a subframe (AWD civic anyone?).

In any case this could go on, and on, ad nauseum. But the fact of the matter is you work with what you've got and what you love. Personally I love my Honda, and I love driving it. I don't care if someone else is faster ... because you know what ... there is always someone faster. Build your Honda, do it right, and it'll always treat you well. Seriously
though don't worry about what other people say about your car.

And when it does end up faster than one of the cavs tell them they just got beat by the "special" kid.

this is the back of a ecotec in a cobalt ss /sc my buddy used to own!
they are a very good engine and they do have potential but is no different then a Honda's potential. not to mention there is is alot more engines and parts available for the Honda's over ecotec's

there just as retarded as the next guy don't kid your self and don't take it to heart just build and smoke his ass!! lol

Precisely my point. Just because you aren't faster than the next guy doesn't mean your car isn't any good. Hell there are a lot of car that will spank the shit out of mine even stock. I built my car for me, not for everyone else. I can appreciate a well done car no matter what the make, seriously I don't understand all the hating in the automotive community. A well built Mustang deserves just as much respect as a well built Civic. It's all the jackasses in the different camps that spark so much unneeded animosity. We're all just building cars.

Stop the hate.
