#217309 anybody here have any experience with a b20vtec with an auto transmission?
can it be tuned with that tranny? i was told it'll be hard to do and won't work very wel...
i have a S300 ready for the motor but dont have the dough to
buy a gear box..
my tuner told me to waite until i get the gear box before i put the
Hondata in....but the price those boxes are going for that wont be anytime soon...
this car is my daily driver and im currently using my old stock b16a ECU on the b20vtec, works fine except for, sumtimes i get a really low idle.
and vtec kicks in @ 6000rpm wich comes in really hard..
wel any info on the automatic tranny tune will be great, thanks :thumb:

I wouldn't drive a B20vtec on anything other then a Tuned or basemap'd ecu except for the short drive to the tuning shop. The b16 ecu isn't give you enough fuel for your new 2.0liter engine. If you keep using it you WILL kill your B20vtec.

As for using the Auto Transmission, Yes you can tune on auto Trannys. Its been done before you need an automatic ecu with vtec. so pretty much get a p28(d16z6 ecu) from any of the auto ex coupes or sedans.

I have heard that Automatic Transmissions are not that strong. So if you make tons of power dont be surprised when it goes out. For N/A B20vtec fun it should do okay. If it was me I would personally get anouther b series automatic tranny from any integra or 97-01 CR-V 2WD.

#217322 well the automatic tranny im using is from my old b16a that i had,
it has a 1,2,3,Drive shift on it. the car was originally auto so i guess the ECU is auto also.
bout the tuning should i buy a adjustable fuel regulator and turn the fuel pressure up, jus until i get the car tuned? if so what psi is safe for the stock b16a injectors that im using?

#217324 If It was my Car and Build, I would get the S300 installed and at the very least have a B20vtec base map installed on it by your tuner.

You always hear about people blowing there ls/vtecs and b20/vtecs up and one key reason is becouse they dont have a GOOD tune.

You can crank up fuel pressure, however I wouldn't do that as my only tuning, its only asking for trouble. If you need to roll around a while before you get a full blown tune. I would recommend Having a good b20/vtec basemap installed on your s300 and a A/F Ratio Gauge, so you can see if your running to lean.
