#224734 Alright cool well for the sake of simplicity I guess I'll just stick to the Z6 and see how long it'll last. Mileage is higher then hell but if I can't make it run like my LS did then I might just swap it but I really want to keep it Single Cam because everyone swaps now a days and it be nice to take some cars down with a D16 kinda how my LS used to take down hatches with b16/b18 vtecs that I was told I'd never beat in a G2 Integra.

#224864 From what i understand it doesnt take much for a d16 to take a b16. I cannot tell you personally as ive never raced a b16 in a d16. Either way, its possible. Even better though is that you can rebuild your motor, turbo it, and when it eventually blows (will last longer than a b series to begin with) its cheaper to replace. So you get to tell people who have 3 grand more in their car that you went the smart way about it and can still compete. Logically if you start with two motors both of which are under 200hp, adding even amounts of hp to each is just going to close the gap (percentage wise).

I was considering swapping out my z6 for something, but the more i thought about it the more i decided it doesnt make sense to, not unless you are going for maximum hp, which i am not, as i am sure you arent.

Last week I ran a Tegra LS completely stock
I got a D15B Vtec I/H/E and I kept up with it
I didn't really win but I did keep up within a car length

The guy was surprised that I had an automatic car and a 1.5L D series

Edit: Dont worry about what other people have nor worry about how weak D series are stock. D series are more reliable, cheaper, easier to fix and more common. You can build and boost a D series and take down gsr's all day.

Another big word of advise is Weight Reduction is always free

#224911 Well on a Honda you can only lose but so much wait and still keep the creature comforts I'm actually trying to keep for once in my life since ultimatley it is my DD. i thought about a turbo kit you know 5-6 pounds and call it a day but to me Honda is a motor car. If I wanted something turbo I would've went Nissan or Mazda or even Toyota but I always loved how Honda's on just motor were always boot scootin but in the end maybe a few pounds of boost will be needed. Thanks again guys for all the advice in Single Cam land. A friend of mine just got an EK and wants to keep it SOHC for the DD while he turbo's his Integra so I'm sure what ever I learn from you guys I'll share with him.

#224916 It took me a long time to figure if i wanted boost on my d or n/a. I eventually decieded n/a. After a nice lil rebuild rings, slight bore, y8 mani, bearings an some p29 pistons. My little d series has balls. I still have a way to go. But For now shes fun. she walks stock b series motors, But not sure of vtec ones. I can say i am happy i stuck with my z6 cus its cheap an fun to drive.

#224938 Now don't think like that. For 5 years I had my Integra and I beat the ever loving hell out of that thing. Only reason it finally went is because I kept letting it get to low on oil and eventually here came a nice knocking. I love Honda's and everything they stand for no matter what motor they are. Reliable and they can be pretty dam quick with a little tweaks here and there. But then again I have always hated on Single cams so I really don't know much of nothing about em hence why I come here now to learn some new to me stuff and try to keep the lil D in my car.

No dont regret anything, work with what you got
Really everyone is just experimenting with what they have

#224941 i know this is in the D series section but...the best SOHC motors would be the F series.

it's too bad those iron sleeved torque monsters are a major pita to swap into our cars...

#224946 Or the J series
SOHC v6's
Have a SOHC Vtec decal on the side of your car
With a V6 under the hood :thumb:
