#234406 Nice Katie! Sucks your water tastes like bunghole...

Still been working out what I can at my apt. Someone stole all our free weights so we only have a couple machine weights and cardio equipment.. so I do my free weight workouts in my bedroom with what I have out of storage (which isn't much, but its something i guess)

My goal to get up to 200lbs failed... I ate and ate and ate while lifting big with minimal cardio and didnt make it. I got up to 195 before we moved and since then I've been a steady 185 :-/

Might have to switch my work schedule to evenings so I guess that could free up time in the mornings to get a nice workout in!!!
We shall see how it all plays out.

#234638 People are stupid for stealing stuff..It's like go buy your own stuff idiots. >.< I haven't been working out as much lately..Need to get back into it. Been trying to eat better...drinking more water..hardly any soda. Or if I do I keep it to just one.

Hopefully sometime next month I can purchase my single speed. Then I can go with the bf on bike rides and stuff. I just need to pay for Sissy's pet deposit cause they keep asking me for it lol.

Why do you want to get to 200lbs? mind you i haven't read the full thread, but figured i'd ask, considering putting on weight as fat would be unhealthy,

remember, muscle weighs more then fat, so build muscle, not fat.

#234697 I'm tryin to get to a lean 200lbs which is why its a struggle to gain that much weight. I eat a Really clean high protein high carb diet. and lift heavy weight lower reps and minimal cardio.

You can only eat so lean when trying to Bulk. Anyone bulking knows they will put on 'bad weight' in the process as well. So I'm shooting for over 200 and then I'll go on a cutting cycle and maintain it at 200lbs. My metabolism is whats killing me.

I'm what you'd call a 'Hard Gainer' :(

Yeah ive been chompin adderall for the past four years
Not saying its a wonder drug but it does wonderful things

I myself have been working on staying in shape
August I left my job as a cook which stunted my fitness

Mostly high protein and grain
Cut sugars which most people are addicted to (including alcoholics)
Zero soda intake except ginger ale
Increased alcohol intake (recreational)

As of the new year I will be continually working out at my apartment
I played racquetball for over 8 years and my instructor tought me that

It is more important to obtain high muscular endurance based off of ones own body weight, or endurance weight training. Larger muscles will slow you down. This is an athletes point of view. Bruce Lee never stepped into a gym nor was he gigantic, but he achieved such great strength. Marines also share a body weight based routine.

Workout focused on:
Muscular endurance
Balance
Flexibility

Wish me luck

#235835 just wondering...what is your take on creatine?

#235845 From my recent readings and talking with people I believe are pretty close to health experts, Creatine monohydrate is exellent.. but you should cycle it (4-6 weeks on, then take a week off..repeat.) You dont have to cycle it but I would think it would be more beneficial.

You already produce creatine naturally in your body. Our liver combines the three amino acids: Arginine, Glycine and Methionine.. to form creatine.
Taking a Creatine supplement helps increase your size and your pumps. It super hydrates your muscles (it literally draws water into the muscle cells). and with that said... you NEED to drink a ton of water. It will not work if you're not hydrated.

I currently only take protein as far as a supplement. I dont have the funds for anything else. :(

#235871 i was just wondering cause for water polo season some guys used creatine , they where on it for about 2 to 3 weeks at a time, i did one cycle with them and with their workout and i did notice difference in my stamina but not by too much, i was talking to my nutrition for athletes teacher and he said its ok but for a guy my size i have to be really careful with it because itll dehydrate me fast and im 127 pounds and im a swimmer so i wont notice sweating at all. as for protein i dont really take it because as much as i try to get into the habit of lifting weights i always enjoyed cardio workouts better and im afraid that itll have some negative effects on me.

#235911 Creatine isn't useful if you're not lifting weights and trying to gain size. It's not really going to increase your stamina much and really won't help or do anything really for cardio workouts and like I said you have to drink a TON of water if you're taking it.

Here's a good article/info on creatine:
http://www.muscleandstrength.com/articl ... wered.html

If I'm having an 'off' day with cardio. I'll take a caffeine pill or a cup of black coffee 1/2hr before my excercises to give me that push to get me going and keep me going. But I don't do this often, nor recommend it for a "daily" use.

#235976 thanks chance :thumb: i do have to start lifting, you guys got any tips as for weight lifting. My ultimate goal is to get bigger and i know (or at least i think i do :? ) that it supposed to be max weight and little reps. is this right?

#235996 You have to eat big and lift big to get big and GET ENOUGH SLEEP!

Like you said, Heavy weight less reps. Basically heavy enough you can get to about 8 clean reps and feel like you cant do anymore. (max 10 reps)

Don't work out the same muscle group everyday. Like if you work Biceps.. rotate those workouts in at least every 3-4 days.

this is just a thrown out there example to give you an idea.
Biceps and chest - monday
Tri's and back - wednesday
legs and core - friday

then repeat next week. Give you muscles time to heal and build. Get enough carbs and protein in Pre AND Post workout.

Good pre workout to bulk is 1-2 cups brown rice and 8oz chicken breast about an hour before your workout. Then for Post work out Blend 2 scoops of whey protein, 1-2 tbsp honey, with milk and 2-3 servings of low sugar or sugar free cereal. (the honey will spike your insulin levels to help keep that window open allowing more protein synthesis and it also provides extera carbs.)

SLEEP is when your going to 'grow'. You NEED Protein while you sleep. Your body will be depreciated of the protein by the beginning to mid night. and left with nothing to help your muscles grow. So before bed you need a slow metabelizing protein, such as Milk, low fat cottage cheese, Casein protein(little expensive)... basically the milk/cottage cheese curdle in your stomach provide your body with the protein needed throughout the night. You'll also notice you aren't as hungry as you use to be in the mornings when doing this. but when you wake up get a good breakfast in!

Those are just examples. But definitely read up on everything. Thats all I do when I get bored at work usually, read up on articles all over the net. Bodybuilding.com has a plethera of articles for ANY tip of fitness/excercise, even workout routines laid out for people getting into it.

Sorry I feel like im all over the place. Hope this helps. and like I said, you dont have to take my word for it. I'm no expert, not even close!! Just do your homework... and enjoy it all!!!
