#242415 Since I put intake exhaust and header, car smells like its running rich. Is there a way to correct this since I don't have a tuned ecu? Is there a way to adjust the dizzy or do I need to buy something else to deal with this? Any advice would be appreciated.

#242418 Is your o2 sensor hooked up? did it get touched? If you touch the part that goes inside the header it will stop working properly.

#242423 I didn't touch the o2 sensor. On a side note, every time I added a new item to the system, I pulled the ecu fuse to allow the car to adjust to the new setup.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that

#242571 well you wont need to adjust the timing or get a tune for the mods you have. Just double check your connections and vacuum lines. Double check to ensure there isnt an exhaust leak somewhere in your setup.

#242582 did you get an exhaust setup without a cat? cause that will definitely smell different then with a cat.

#242595 Ill check vacuum lines and stuff. Don't think I have an exhaust leak. I have old hose...where is the worst place for vacuum leaks?

check all the lines going in/out the intake manifold

u just basically enlarged things. more exhaust will come out. so u will smell it more.. obviously. did u keep your factory catalytic converter or did u get the full ebay special with the "high" flow test pipe? if you did ur def going to smell more fumes than normal and FYI this is normal...

#242822 I kept the factory catalytic converter for back pressure, maybe it is bad or something. I think all my hoses are good.

#242842 Even if you did need to adjust timing, you wouldn't retard it. Retarding your timing would allow the piston to travel further up the cylinder before triggering the spark. This would increase the odds of detonation and/or pre-ignition.

If you needed to adjust your timing, you would need to advance the timing. This allows for an earlier ignition event, resulting in a somewhat higher combustion pressure by the time the piston reaches TDC compression stroke and starts it's downward travel in the power stroke as well as reducing the risk of damaging detonation and/or pre-ignition.

#242935 In addition to everything that has been said...

Adjusting the timing will not affect the fuel.

Keep the timing stock. Advancing the timing causes the flame front to peak as the piston is still traveling upwards. Thus it fights the piston on the way up reducing your engine's output. The only way to know is with a dyno.

Touching the O2 sensor doesn't hurt it.

#243110 Thanks for the inputs...I won't mess with timing.
