Got pulled over last night for the first time...

- Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:27 am #245120 So last night my friend and I were on our way to pick up another one of our friends who just happens to live in a bad neighborhood, so there's bound to be a couple cops in the area. It's pouring rain outside and I'm trying to go as slow as I can (like about 20-25) when suddenly I hear WOOP WOOP and my mirror is full of red and blue -__- so I pull over and the cop asks for my license and registration and asked if I owned the car so I hand everything to him. He asks where we're coming from and why we're here and I tell him why. He then asks if I knew why I was being pulled over, I said no, and he tells me I was going too fast for weather conditions and he also noticed that I don't have a front plate, and I told him I was going to take car of that soon anyway. He then asks my friend and I if we're ever been arrested before. I haven't but my friend has so he was honest and he said yes, so his partner asked him to step out of the car. The other officer then asked me if I had any tattoos (wtf?) and I said no, then he asks me to step out of the car. Then I get searched in the pouring rain, then he asks me if I had any tattoos again then he makes me sit there in the pouring rain -__- Idk what my friend told them but I guess what he got busted for before was enough for them to consider searching my car (I've got nothing to hide, all they would've found was my half-done homework and some granola bars) but I guess they decided against it. So they handed us our IDs, let us off and told us to have a nice night, and they took off. I pull into my friend's driveway across the street and try to gather myself. I'm soaking wet, my friend is soaking wet, my interior is soaking wet, then I realize...the damn cops took off with my goddamn registration -__________________-

Sorry I kinda just had to vent about all that...but what do I do about my registration? Should I call the PD about it or should I sit my ass at the DMV for like 8000 hours and try to get a new copy?

the cops just needed something to do dont let it get to you.

- Mon Mar 21, 2011 4:08 am #245124 Yeah, I've pretty much decided not to deal with the cops again so I'm gonna go to the DMV tomorrow or Tuesday to get myself another copy along with a front plate. 18 bucks for the registration and another 18 for the plate, I'm not really complaining about the price but I would've liked to save that 18 dollars lol.

- Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:29 pm #245272 I'm pretty sure you could have said no to getting out of the car. I don't believe simply being arrested before gives them probable cause. You weren't doing anything illegal that would give them reason to suspect you may run or be violent. Sounds fishy.

Fucking cops. :thumbdown: Stories like this are partly why I'm studying to be a lawyer.

DWB and DWL is probable cause in most states :lol:

soo yeah there out of line, but fuck that 18$ go to the pd or sheriff depending on who pulled you over and bitch and complain that he took ur regerstration

It wasnt me who was arrested before, it was my friend who was with me lol. But I just complied with them, I mean I was kinda nervous since it was my first time getting pulled over haha.

what race are you? if you're black or latino.... i've got a pretty good idea of why you got pulled over...

Yeah my friend who lives nearby said they did that to him before when he was just parked in his driveway. He also said me driving a Civic probably added to it. -__-

Today I went to the DMV and requested a new registration and front plate, turns out it was only 19 bucks for new plates+registration so i guess I didnt get screwed as bad as I thought I did. :thumb:

it happend to me aswell, u move to a street that is famous for it and ur new the cops want to know if ur just there or ur a dealer or gang nd shit

still i would be hella pist, even its 20$
the fucking cop shouldnt habe takin ur reg

go to the pd and file a complaint
yeah its prob part of his job so see is new or whats goin on in his area
but thats not a reason to take ur reg

They always bring it up to to us at the front desk and tell us to give it back if the person comes in to complain. So no, it probably wasn't intentional haha

Beside the fact, SJ cops has been getting bad news in the media for being too rough. I would have took down his badge number after all this issue and ask him what is the reason beside the front plate for pulling me over.

Also, the fact that you have to stand in the rain!!! Overall, glad all went good.
