#243815 So yesturday 3/14 i took my car to my buddies as ever since i got it if it was cold it was hard to shift and when you put it in neutral and released the clutch at a stop then reengaged the clutch and tried to shift you wouldnt be able to get into any gear at all.....for a little then like magic youd be able to shift again......he really was stunned when this happened and came to a conclusion it may be the syncros....

well lets just say after that i decided to give her a tune up that she hasnt had in awhile oil was black so i said wtf why not change the trans fluid while im at it. Besides finding a fram of death filter on the engine everything was going smoothly until the refill of the trans it looked like someone obviously stripped it abit so i gave it a shot it stripped a bit more (couldnt use a socket had to use a wrench) until i decided to take out all but the front mount bolt and lower the engine back so i could sneak a 6pnt socket in.....well that went great to as then i had a completely round bolt.....

fastforward 2 sockets some welds and a fair bit of burns on my arms i got it to loosen so now i just have to refill and whatnot but yea also have to fix the very bad tie rod ends and now my speedo cable is going so im going to get a new one of those lets just say it was a long day lol ill have pics up today when im done also buying a cheap laptop with a serial port why is that so important well stay tuned its going to be fun :hehe:

#245630 indeed it is lol exspecially with people in the car thankfully tho i only have 1 other person besides myself and the cars around me.......

Anyhow MASSIVE UPDATE :woot:

as i havent updated in awhile this will be a rather large update.
So lets start off with issues ive been having...
Well on the day right before work since it was nice and i hadnt done anything to the car in awhile i decided to do the sunroof and get the tape off of it and see what i had what i could use etc.....well lets just say things didnt go as planned and now i have a hole in my roof no track assembly a box and duct tape in its place. Since apparently when i went to put the new roof in things jammed up due to a frayed cable  i was overjoyed by this as someone an hour away quoted me 225 for the tray with the cables used or 22 for a full roof cut and headliner.........but thankfully so it dosent happen again and since i only paid 25 for a section of roof off a 1990 hatch im just going to delete it as i noticed me being 6'5" tall it was alot nicer to have headroom lol.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

one of the reasons why i wanted to do this was because 1 the duct tape (the massive load) as allowing water to seap in thru the doors so my seats or i was getting wet  and it was slowly popping out fo place and rattleing like hell
Image

lol that was a easy removal when none of the brackets are left and its pretty much rust....
Image

Image

it was going so well too.....then i hit the spot where the cable was frayed and had to figure out why it wasnt working(didnt know the cables were shot at the time)
.....and i spent so much time on getting the panel ready too......
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

so i got fed up and took it all out :D

Image

Image

Image

Image

and then after alot of debating with friends and myself i decided to buy this
Image

Image

technically with having to pay the yard guy to cut it it cost me 40$'s but to be honest it was so worth it comparing it to other things plus now ill be technically race legal.

Now onto the second issue
Well i dont normally carry passengers since the wire tuck that was done on the car set the fuse box right where they slam their feet. so just out of sheer not wanting things to be inconvenient and me wanting to have easy access if needed set about putting things right

it was a mess at first but i figured it out :thumb:

Image

Image

Image

and now its back where it belongs with things taped up well

Image

And then after that i had another issue while figuring out my transmission issue i decided to see what changing the trans fluid would do. lets just say nothing went to plan.....
As i finished the changing the black engine oil i was able to drain the nice silver oil from the trans...then it came time to refill the trans i thought easy enough get down there the things partially stripped allready due to the area it was in i could not get a socket on it and when useing a wrench it stripped more.....so i had to remove the trans side and rear mount and undo the d.side bolt just to angle the engine in a way where i could get to the refill plug with a socket....which rounded it completely (i used a 6pnt) well at this stage i was fucked i had not trans fluid and i couldnt refill it. I was just about to say fuck it and swap the transmission as it was practically out anyways....but i decided after talking with my friend to weld a socket onto the bolt and get it out that way and it worked....
Image

Image

new one from the ex trans i had from my old hatch in its new home
Image

along this time i was searching craigslist and found a minime motor someone couldnt get running for 50$ i was there the next day low and behold it was my old 1st red hatch...and i knew right then and there it had no compression because the headbolts i was putting in wouldnt torque down. and that it wasnt as advertized Z6 head it was a fully redone y8 head that my buddy who was originally going to buy my car bought and paid 200$ for....so long story short got it down to a short block after i got it home and now i have a nice y8 head for my crx :hehe:

Image

Image

it took me maybe 10mins to get it down to this point lol

Image

and now lets jump back up to the junkyard roof cut as that wasnt the only thing i bought....that was 25 of the 228$ w/tax and other fees i spent there that day

Lets start off with my first find walking into the new isle i spot a 1994 prelude well wouldnt you know it someone already took some things but left the center console(hid that) and these nice seats which i think will be perfect for the crx
Image

Image

then i spied a 4dr ef and saw it had a brand new or at least newish suspension on it and a new catback i had a choice get the suspension or get the catback as the suspension would fix my bouncy ride and scraping issues and the catback would fix the scraping exhaust issues.....
i went with the not haveing a bouncy ride and got all 4 struts
Image

and then since there was a ef hatch down there and a rt4wd i decided to test a theory i had and i think my newly purchased bumper is going to look rather nice on my crx :)

Image

Image

i also purchased a couple small bits and pieces tho now i just have to do the work now to put these things in but i just looked outside and well i already have a good 3incheas easily of snow what the heck !! :x so wont be working on her for a little bit i guess but as of now i believe that is all.....

#245679 thats sick man! looks like you got a ton of awesome parts :thumb: i love those lude seats, as the 4th generation is my favorite prelude :D

They are becoming more uncommon and harder to restore

#246262 thank you :thumb: I gotta say i wanted a challenge and well lets just say I now I have one as well as i have another round of updates running off a 2 hour sleep and 2 days of being couped up inside the house due to damn winter weather and due to recent occurrences i did not drive the crx for a couple days.....

issues
-well the tokico blues gave out every single one was shot and it made for a bouncy ride and ended up for some reason causing a check engine light( i believe the issue was a vacuum line that popped off after a rough bump....
Since i also kept scraping my muffler i let the car sit till i could get the oem suspension i bought on so i wouldn't scrape and the ride would be smooth :hehe: and so my tires didnt wear badly....so lets start with those pics

took the bathrub and hot water and washed them down lol mother still dosent know i did that
Image

Image

due to the aftermarket sway i had to lob off the oem nut on the strut....
Image

thankfully i kept the nuts from the car i got these from as the ones that where on it well ill let the pic show
Image

installed
Image

results
Image

Image

and since i didnt do a before and after on the rear hows a front swap
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and now i got gap
Image

ill get more pics of the change shortly but i guess i forgot what i was doing because i decided among better judgement that instead of going to sleep id test fit the new bumper i orgasmed a little when i stepped back after a quick test fit .....heres pics(note i had already chopped the plastic strip in these pics for comparison)
Image

Image

Image

at first i took the moulding strip off because the bumper wouldnt fit with it on and i wasnt planning on useing it but with the help of my eyes and a cuttoff wheel well here you go more pics

Image

Image

Image

Image

Note the strip isnt connected at all so the gap will change to the better its just sitting on there now

I am loving this bumper idea since one ive never seen anyone do this and two the jdm bumper for the crx which i do like a bit is similar to this style tho some differences of coarse but with this bumper i dont have to change the headlights, hood and all that just to use it....plus it kinda looks like a prelude in some of the pictures with the center area where the grille would go im digging it and with a good day i will do a final install but for now im doing more research on the seat swap as thats probaly next on the agenda....
enjoy :woot:

#246487 I actually like the stock bumper. but once color matched the one you test fitted will probably look alright. that rocker panel rust worries me though in that open door pick. how bad is it? and do you plan on using bondo or just weld in new pieces like teal did? great progress over all. cant wait to see it with proper coil overs.

#247023 Yea i understand im partial to the bumper i just want to be different and thus far no one has done it to my knowledge plus the amount needed for a crx bumper is outrageously priced close to 100$ for one that needs alot of work i mean i remember when i paid 200 for a whole crx pretty much...things have gotten way out of hand lately with prices for parts for the crx but i love my car so much....

Anyhow after 3days of on off work i got the prelude seats swapped onto the crx pans and i love it i do have to do some slight adjustment to the foam as i tend to need to move forward a bit probaly because i put too much of the foam cut in but anyhow if thats the only problem i have im overjoyed with the look and the fact when throwing the car into a turn i dont fall out....
main reason the seats i got for the car sucked but they where the only ones i could get and price reflected the hard to find nature....

Image

Image

Image

Image

then i put everything together and cleaned my carpets as well since the seats where out and found one of my old black carpets from my red cx as the rubber mat was catching the clutch not cool !
Image

i used turtle wax carpet cleaner worked great however the upholstry cleaner wasnt so good on the seats thankfully i was quick to act and used the carpet cleaner to clean up the upholstery cleaner....
Image

Image

all the way forward
Image

Image

leaned back
Image

Image

Image

i like :thumb:

tho not saying if i come across something better i wont swap them out but for now they are awesome.

and with teh seat swap going on my mind got a buzzing and i started 2 other projects
one includes this
Image

and the other will bring me more light into the interior but for now im keeping it under wraps.....

enjoy the seat swap i took up 4 pages in my photobucket with pics i think i diy is in order for a crx forum but im sure it can apply to the egs as well.....

#248210 So a little update of the sunroof delete project....

since i couldnt find a whole roof for a decent price nor did i wish to do the jdm glasstop conversion though it looked cool enough...

My buddy alex who is pictured sometimes and myself got to work on just plugging the hole for now and ill trim the metal for the headliner to fit later.....roof is a cut from a 90 hatch that was in my junkyard paid 25$ for this piece and so far very well worth it....and here are the pics i have so far it was a late night so when the roof was tacked in i left and forgot to snag pics.

Image

Image

Image

thanks alex for helping alot on this project couldnt of done it without you and your vast array of proper tools
Image

Image

first time the cars been in a garage since ive owned it at least
Image

I ate some y49 paint as well its sad to see that there is such a nice color underneath this flat black....
Image

Image

getting ready for the weldings to begin
Image

if it wasnt raining right now id run outside and take a picture of how it looks thus far....its tacked in and has some special military grade aluminum tape on it alot less tape then i had originally and no more cardboard hurray hopefully today as we needed some smaller wire i can get it pretty much finished :-)b
enjoy

#248465 soo all was going well sort of.....lets just say one thing led to another which led to me getting up setting something up to take over me catching the sparks from the welding me comming back a couple mins later opening the door to a fire of awesomeness of which the blanket that was working just fine a minute ago was now in a ball of flames thankfully nothing other then a few small melts on the p,side seat and a semi burnt paintjob on the patch panel resulted.....that is if you dont take into account the massive amounts of cleaning i shall have to do now since the fir extinguisher stuff got everywhere........anyhow i decided to completely remove most of the interior dash stays for now but other then that mostly everything else went away.....here are the pics

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and after about 2 to 3 hours in the pouring rain.....it has been turned into this
Image

Image

Image

and i dont know if youll see it but my rust free crx isnt really rust free in the quarters either as it was repaired improperly they ddidnt even take out the remaining rust......so not only will new rockers but quarters be in order to fix my car but hey now i got to parts i wanted to fix out i guess thats a plus....
