#25213 Well i am in bit of a dilemma right now.. i was considering getting a personal loan, or personal line of credit. My original plan was to do some work on the hatch, get it fixed up, swap the motor and tranny and what not...

but then i got to thinking, if i got a loan for about $3000 i could possibly find a 5spd Teg in decent shape.. now here is the thing, i love my hatch, i really do. But i have wanted a Teg since i was 10. I have fond memories of what i would be driving home with my dad in his Red 91 Cx hatch, we would pass this white Teg everyday. I would sit there and stare in awe at it. i loved it then, and i love it now. And am actually starting to consider getting one.

I know if i found a white 5spd in decent shape for a good price i would more then likely do it. but i thought i would see what your opinions were on this one... now don't be bias on this question i want an honest opinion on this,

So just think of it this way, if you could get the money to buy one of your reasonable dream cars if you sold your hatch would you?

#25224 my dream car is a R32 gt-r.

and i would never sell my hatch to get one as silly as it sounds. even if someone were to say" ill GIVE you a r32 gtr if you get rid of your hatch." im never letting go of helen.

#25226 I have friends with all different model Integras, and I've driven all the different Integras. Honestly I wouldnt give up my hatch for any Teg, unless it was a RHD ITR.

#25236 you dont want debt with a car.. its really bad investment..

save up..and do it w/ cash you have. Worse thing you want is paying off debt for a car thats worth under 3000 bucks.

#25237 As many red flags as there are, debt, selling your hatch, etc. It's all personal, and it's your DREAM car. The things you should consider are the consequences of having your dream car though, and if they outweigh the benefits, like being happy, then go for it man!

#25248 I personally would rather have a nice hatch then a Teg, but that is my opinion. Do what you think would make you the most happy.

You could sink money into the car you already have, and obviously don't owe anything on, or you could get a Teg that you would inevitably sink more money into. You'll never get out what you put into either, so that isn't a deal breaker.

If you think you'd be happier with the Teg then go for it. Atleast drive a couple and see if you still have the same feelings for them.

#25258 Don't get me wrong guys i love my hatch, and with either option i would be more then happy. but the way i am looking at things at the moment is like this.

My car is an Automatic, the only things i have on it that are performance are Cat back exhaust and an SRI. and to do up the Civic the way i want it would take alot of money, i mean lets say a motor and tranny swap, i'd most likeyl get a B18B cause they are decently powered and the whole swap would be about $2000(including shipping) for everything that i need then there is suspension stuff that i want to do, and to get the suspension to the point of what i want it would be almost another $2000... so right there that is $4000 to get the car where i want it... and i know i would be more then happy with that setup. However i could use that $4000 and get a newer car that would have better resale value, then sell the hatch and put it towards the Teg..

And i do agree i have always loathed being in debt. So that is another thing that makes me on the fence about this. If i made more money i would totally just save up the cash and just do the hatch one thing at a time.

The only thing that is holding me back right now, is that this car was a gift from my mom, reason it was is my step father owns a car dealership, and it was traded in to him, the car i had at the time had frame rust, and needed to be replaced, and i was traveling long distances in it alot. so she bought it off of him for me cause i couldn't afford to. Now i don't want to sell the hatch while she is still paying it off, so as long as she is i am gonna keep the hatch. cause i don't want her money to go in vain...

So i think i have decided that if i do anything to the Civic more so it's going to be a budget thing. Find an Si tranny and manual swap it. and if i do any suspension stuff for the mean time it will be buying used stuff. then once the cars paid off look into getting a Teg.

This is very important!! You might like the car from the outside, but how is it once you're behind the wheel??

YES THIS IS VERY TRUE!!
Trust me i know about situations like these. When i sold my EG i was so into EKs i dont know why. So i bought one after my eg. Like mike says i loved the car from the outside it looked soo freshh but being inside the car and driving it i dont know it felt wierd.I know this sounds really gay and all but i felt like I had no connection with the car. It was wierd it felt boring to tell u the truth. I knew right there that i regret selling my EG and had to get another one. So just be wise, drive a few tegs and really sit down and think about this. It sounds like your in a really tough dilemma.

#25267 shit its upto u, we might steer u in a different direction but at the end of the day its what u want, if u can find a teg that u don't have to do much work to then get it but if its under 3 grand and its gunna take a bit of money to get it the way u want it then why bother that means ull be puttin urself in debt.

Just my 2p

#25271 Strange, ive been thinking the exact same thing today...

I love my car to pieces, but i would sell up for an ITR

As cool as it would be to have a b18 eg like i originally planned... itll never been an ITR, if that makes sense...
