VX O2 sensor, how to re-wire???

- Sun Jul 03, 2011 4:33 pm #262111 I have a VX hatch that has the 7 wire O2 sensor, but a 7 wire sensor is wayyy too much money for me. :x ( thats why I'm drivin a busket... )
anyway- I picked up a 4 wire sensor, but I can't figure out how to wire it up - I still have a CEL on.
Any idea on which wires to hook to what?
The new sensor has 2 white wires, 1 grey and 1 black. Which wires would they get connected to? :?

the vx ecu wants a wide band o2, not the narrow band 4 wire o2.
its easier and cheaper to replace with the correct o2 than do some head/engine/ecu swapping.

VX YEL - 4 Wire GRY
VX ORG - 4 Wire WHT
The other WHT needs a 12V+ ECU switched source. It can be tapped into nearly any YEL/BLK wire under the hood.

That ECU requires the "7 wire" wideband O2. It has an onboard controller for it. You can convert to a CA ECU and four wire O2 sensor, but that would cost more than just getting the correct O2. Plus you'll lose some fuel economy.

Don't hack up those wires. Even if you're going to convert it, you'll need to run all new wires. Most of the wires on the wideband don't even go to the ECU.

- Mon Jul 04, 2011 3:00 am #262163 Please pardon my OP- I didn't include all the needed info- The HARNESS is from the VX- I put a mini me-D15B7/D16Z6 in the car- I'm running a P-28 ECU so- is the O2 swap do-able under these circumstances?
