#268555 No one will show criticism as long as you are being serious. Back to your question though. Yes, there is something called a B2D kit so you can fit a D series tranny on a B series motor. A B16 would have the best ratios for drag racing if that is what you are in to.

#268558 If you're still sohc, you'll have to find another sohc trans for now. The dohc trans is different. And unless you want to spend a grand on a d2b kit to mate a b trans to a d-series , engine, you're better off finding anlther sohc trans to get you by.

Now when you go ls/v, it'll be different. If you are staying n/a, I'd go the b16 trans route. But if you go boost, then I'd go with the GSR trans. I say that, because the b16 trans will run out of gear down the 1/4 mile. Well, I guess if the car is fast it will. You'll either have to ride the revv limiter the last few feet of the track, or shift 5th and kill your time.

#268559 well wut i am trying to accomplish here is saving money by finding or doing some thing now with my tranny that is my stock one on my d15b7...but later i will be able to use on a b18c boosted and be good gear ratio and with hold about 350 to 400 hp....my biggest problem here is that i dont want to spend a fortune on fixing this tranny if im going to just swap it out within 7-10 months..or even longer...depending on money...but im sure yu get my point...so is it worth using this b2d kit yur talking about...or shuld i just fix my tranny now and "beef" it up some or jus quick fix it and get a new one later???? :?

#268562 Easy....h22 swap...its almost plug and play these days..a gutted h22 hatch runs twelves with a good driver...Ive seen sedans run mid 13s. From the sounds of it you want a quick, reliable, dd. An h22 is your best bet to begin with. Ive seen whole swaps go anywhere from $1500 for a 100k motor that comes out of a hatch thats been beat on, to $2500-$2800 for a complete swap from hmotorsonline plus a few extra goodies. H22 done right you will be satisfied.

h22's are pretty dope. However if you use a f22 block with its iron sleeves vs the h22 blocks with its fiber reinforced sleeves would be a better a better boost block.

The H22a is a good engine but if you dont boost to much. If you plan doing lots of boost swapping out to a F22 block it will hold more boost. For more info on a setup with a H22a head and a f22 or f23 block into "G22" or "G23" setups.

#268674 Yeah G swpas are pretty fucking sweet. Shit just go crazy and do a J swap. Cant go wrong with a V6 sitting under your hood. :thumb: ~300hp (250whp) with ~250 lb. tq. Those motors are fucking monsters, they just weigh a bit more lol. Plus maybe 6-8 psi (dont really know what those motors can handle so i am putting the minimum). You would still be looking at 310whp maybe more :?

#268739 isn't an H series more expensive than a B....or does it depend on the motor itself?
User avatar
By jrhdominos
#268826 H series motors are (for some reason) much cheaper than B series, stock for stock, power to price ratio, if you get what I mean. I think that there is just more demand for a b series, hence the higher cost.

Its because B series swaps are so easy to do. I havent done an H swap personally, but I have heard they can be a bitch. BUT if you put a B16 tranny on a H22 with basic bolt-ons you will beat most cars on the street.

#268882 so if I buy a full H22 vtec swap it will be cheeper than a B18 vtec swap?....but yet I will have a better motor?...now I'm confused

#268943 how much of a headache is it tho...is it really that bad?? what is it that makes it such a PITA??

#269227 that does seam like a bit of a PITA....so ive been thinking if i part together a motor from a junk yard...is that a good idea or should i stay away from that....im thinking of getting a b18 block with a vtec head....not sure what head is the best to use and if i do this i will probebly change the pistons rings and rods...will that be enough???or will i have to replace more than that....also if i turbo the motor in the future will that be ok as well??or am i getting ahead of my self and should i just get one thats already done online???sorry for all the questions...i just wanna get an idea of what im getting myself into before i spend all this money and what not
