D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#274060 So a few weeks ago my speedometer stopped working and I got a check engine light on the dash. I jumped the wire connector and got code "17" meaning that the speed sensor was bad, I went to inspect and realized it was stuck, but with a little patience and with the help of my pliers i removed the sensor. Unfortunately, the pin and connector looked like it had been burned together causing it to stick, and the Grey plastic around the wires to break when I removed. But no worries I just removed it and ordered a new speed sensor. I had planned to just connector the wires directly to the sensor.

Fast forward, I receive the new sensor and like an idiot, I allow my friend to sit in the running, air conditioned car as I install it. I know, I know, stupid, stupid move. 1) always remove negative cable But of course I thought that install was so easy that it would be ok, WRONG. While removing the sensor something drops, I get distracted and I allow the wire connectors, no longer in gray connector touch the transmission, I see a spark and the engine immediately dies. :o

I got o start the vehicle, and to no surprise, it doesn't start. Im not getting a solid cel, I repeat the 2 pin process and continue to see the solid cel. I also am not hearing the fuel pump prime. SO.... I do some research and come across this http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2458280. I know, honda tech, but it was the most extensive post I've seen relating to my problem. I come here to ask this: In my specific case. What do you all think the issue is? Main relay? How can I test it. or the ECU. Or the worst of all i think, a short in some ground or connection. Any help or suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

#274113 I have no problem buying a new one just want to make sure that solid cel indicates a bad ECU and not any other issue

#274692 Bought a new ECU, still no start. Any other possibilities? Im thinking main relay? Solid cel, no fuel pump priming. Should I try ANOTHER ECU? or move on to other possibilities. I cant be 100% that the ECU was in working condition. :?

#274699 ECU fuse? Backup fuse? (both underhood fuses)

all grounds connected properly? Thermostat housing one mainly.

How do the plugs and wires look that go into the ECU? Any of them look burnt, melted, frayed?

#274701 Checked both before I bought the ECU but ill double check. Only a visual inspection was done.

try another main relay if none of the above checks out. You def fried something when those wires touched.

#275007 Tried another main relay known to be good, and triple checked fuses. Still no start. Starting to lean towards a short in wire somewhere? Or bad ground? Any help here? Also got the multimeter out and the main relay harness is good.

#275019 I haven't jumped the 2 pin since i installed the new ECU because I figured the issue was the same. But i guess trying again wouldn't hurt. Which wire would you expect? I have power at the relay harness, stereo, brake lights work and headlights too. Im thinking bad ground? maybe at g101.

#275058 Also checked the harness that goes behind the ECU for continuity but stopped because I forgot my notes in my dorm. lol.

But noticed something off? Or maybe not.

Looks like wires were spliced together? Idk. It made me think twice about doing anything w/o my notes.

#275059 Btw, I jumped connectors again and no change, still solid cel
