vtec?

vtec?

- Wed Nov 09, 2011 1:20 am #280799 sooo.. maybe this is a super newb question but ummm I don't know if my vtec is kicking in on my d16z6, how can i tell? I cant really hear a difference. also I was told it should kick out a cloud of black smoke(idk if thats true but i didn't see any black smoke)..

- Wed Nov 09, 2011 1:35 am #280801 Lol... on a d16z6 you really dont have that vtec "Kick" since the vtec is minor on a stock D. you'll just feel the car accelerate a little more faster after 5800 RPMS...

if you look at my thread, you can see the dyno of my d16z6.

- Wed Nov 09, 2011 4:21 am #280842 It should be seamless. You'll hear it better if you have an intake, especially a short ram. It is only the cam lobes for the intake that switch over on SOHC motors, not the exhaust cam lobes like on DOHC motors, so vtec will never be as loud on a SOHC.
