When I flick through the channels here, I noticed out of the 15 channels we get, only 5 are full high definition 1080p (only movie and sports channels) which looks awesome, and the rest of them, like news, normal channels etc broadcast at 576p even though I seen they have full high definition cameras in the studio!

Why does retailers and the government encourage you to buy a High Definition TV when most of the channels only broadcast in 576p??

- Tue Dec 20, 2011 1:19 am #286080 nothing in the states is actually broadcasted in 1080p, only 1080i. unless you guys are ahead of us in actually broadcasting it like they said they would be a couple years ago, only way to watch full hd is blu-ray, gaming, device, etc..

- Tue Dec 20, 2011 5:26 pm #286169 That depends on what your service provider actually offers. Has nothing to do with the country or anything. What does however, is the incoming signal in Hz. So all of you with an HD tv with 120, 240 or even higher refresh rate, you are not actually operating to full capacity on that front. ALL incoming signals from ANY device is only operating at 60hz. Your PS3, XsuX, cable and satellite are all by law, limited to 60. Whis is fucking retarded and they don't tell you that shit when you buy a tv.
