i just installed new fog lights, oem style, i try em out they look awesome butt.... when i'm behind the wheel i can see the light extend out like an inch from where i can see the front of the hood end and it doesnt illuminate crap lol maybe i need stronger bulbs?? :? the kit said they were replacement bulbs? i dunno

#324066 If you turn on fog lights in normal weather they won't do anything. They are designed for fog hence their name, but rainy, snowy generally crappy weather are what they are for. The OEM style reflector bowls suck ass. Most OEM and even some fog lights do nothing more than look good on the bumper. I had the same issue with mine when I got them. I found a set of HOP fog lights, installed them and used them once. They sucked. Then I discovered the wonderful world of projector and hid retrofit. Now I've got the hid projector from a Lexus es300 retrofitted onto the factory mounts. I installed a proper 3000k bulb and the output is insane.

#324102 Yeah pretty much lol. You can find a yellow bulb made by Hella. They are a little hard to find the real ones or the retrofit shop makes the shorter H3 bulb that fits fine. The Hella bulb is a super bright yellow capsule bulb and the TRS H3C is a PnP HID bulb. That's about as bright as you will get before having to step up to a full retrofit with HIDS. Doing the Lexus is/es 300 projector retrofit is a really fun project. Especially as a intro to retros.

#324106 Unlike headlights which project a further and narrower beam fog lights are meant to shine lower and wider, take for example when you're driving in fog or snow and you flip on you high beams, your visibility goes virtually to zero doing exactly the opposite of what they're intended to do because they shine higher and further out. In snow it looks like you're going warp speed. :)
With fog lights being aimed lower and not projecting out as far you can actually see the road itself better so you can see where you're driving, along with that the yellow color reduces glare and increases contrast so you can see better.
So in fog, snow, or even heavy rain just remember, use your low beams and fogs and you'll be able to see the road better.

100% correct. a white bulb is not effective for a fog light application. a yellow bulb is opticly suited for fog lights.

thats the same thing i did. i dont have to use my actual headlights at night if i dont want to. it was the best decision i made as far as lighting goes, well next to my headlight retrofit.
