#38678 in a double wishbone suspension like ours, there is two basic components. a spring and shock. The spring is on top of the shock and held on by a top hat.

When you purchase a lowering spring, the spring is usually significantly shorter than the original OEM one. This poses a problem. When you jack up your car when you are on lowering spring, the spring wobbles when the car is on jackstands. If your springs are short enough and where you hit a bump to allow the car to lift up high enough even without the wheels lifting off the ground, there is a possibility that the spring will not SEAT properly since it can potentially wobble out of it's position.

A true coilover eliminates this problem. It's solution is to have an adjustable perch for the spring seat to allow it to always touch the bottom of the top hat and never wobble. To adjust height, the SHOCK itself's body is threaded and adjustable. The coilover shock is actually short stroke and much shorter than stock shocks allowing the body of the short shock to be adjustable in height. This way your spring will not wobble and you can still adjust height.

Pic is of my Ksports.

Yellow cirlce is used to adjust the preload on the springs. The red circle is use to lower or raise the car. Which does not affect shock travel AT ALL unlike sleeve type or Tein Basics. On those when you lower the car you are affecting the shock travel.

And I also have an adjustment on the top for the compression and rebound dampning.

#38956 The KSports have always been intrigued me, i like the fact they are dampening adjustable and are a decent price, but i have never heard anything about longevity with them...and what i have heard (with the exception of a few times) bad things.. :(

but i can't deny price to performance wise though

#38957 My buddy had them in his corolla. Didn't like it, went to Cusco Zero2 and loved it as it was 10x better in dampening.

The best setup IMO, is still ground control sleeves on Koni SSP3 Shorten Race Shocks. Its not a true coilover system but..it sure beats it in dampening for bang for buck.
