X2

What they are doing is pissing away the money in these cars. What they do when you have to many DUI's is take your car, impound it, then auction it off. The Punishment should be the same. Especially as there is so much money in the car they can get out of it. Be it if they part it out or sell it as a whole. the only snag is they have So called "Stolen" Parts.

The more I read about Cali the more I don't like it.

#39813 I'm gonna be the only guy here that's gonna go against the grain, unfortunately.

Although I agree that it will cause kids to more likely run, but you have to look at it this way.

They aren't crushing the cars just for street racing. As a matter of fact, they never said ANY of those cars were actually caught red-handed street racing. They said that the street racing force had confescaited the cars when the cars were found to have stolen parts on them including motors, wheels, and who knows what else.

Ok so now you all are thinking well why not give them back to the people they were taken from? Or auction all the parts off the car and make money? Or why not give the shells back without motors?
Its simple. If they did any of that, they would be doing the opposite of the taskforce's goal. Selling stolen motors and parts right back out to the street race scene isn't a great idea. lol

Teaching a lesson can be harsh. I'm not for crushing the cars. It pains me to see people's dreams and hard work crumpled litterally. I know how I would feel if it happened to me. But the thing they are trying to teach is that its not ok to buy motors from shady people without any receipts or knowing what car the motor is coming from. And that it's not ok to weave in out of congested traffic just to see if you can get through the next intersection before someone else.

I'm not condemming small town shit, or launching at a light with your friends. And Im not saying I agree with crushing. I just understand that thats the only way to do it in California, where the car theft and street racing are huge problems. As enthusiasts, honestly, this should bring us some joy. It's weeding out the uncool. It's dumb people who are out there getting caught racing and furthermore getting caught racing with stolen parts!!! They make people like me who enjoy my car and buying legit parts for it and racing at events and going to shows look like a common idiot and an asshole. I don't want that. If none of those kids ever got back into a Honda after having their car crushed, it'd be a small victory for me. One less moron to rev their shit at me leaving their high school parking lot as I'm picking my sis up from school in the afternoon.

I agree with alot of the opinions already posted in this thread, but just know that it isn't a bad thing. It's really seriously for the best. Buy your stuff, get reciepts, and be respectful of other people on the road, and you will never have anything to worry about except the usual Modded Honda pull-over with exhaust and ride height lecture. lol

#48051 I am really upset reading this. I'm shocked...

I agree with what some one said earlier. Why not crush DUI cars? they account for more deaths than street racing.

I wonder how many Mustanks they've crushed? how many riced out cavaliers have they smashed to oblivion?

#48064 its actually crush for illegal stolen parts.. but the problem is.. if the motor has been purchased legitly and there is no proof showing that is has been, they consider it stolen.

A friend had an eclipse that has been repainted so many times for a show that the VIN does not show on the chassis anymore and they consider it stolen because there is no proof it is not stolen as the vin cannot be recovered thru the layers of paint.

They are in the right mindset just taking actions too seriously. Certain cops will profile imports and tell you that you fit the street racer time even though majority of the time, they do not.
